Company

Pace helps leading insurers run complex operations through AI agents and expert human review. Financial institutions spend nearly $400 billion annually on outsourced work. We’re building technology to transform those operations alongside some of the largest insurers in the world.

Role

We’re looking for our first Product Designer to shape how Pace’s platform looks, feels, and works.

You’ll partner directly with engineers, customers, and internal stakeholders from problem discovery through delivery. You’ll help decide which problems to solve and why, then turn complex insurance workflows into clear, intuitive product experiences.

This is a role with broad ownership. You’ll establish our design foundations, work closely with engineers to ship, and learn from how customers use what we build. You’ll balance speed with the care and detail that earn trust in a product people rely on for important work.

What this looks like in practice:

Own design from discovery through delivery: Talk to customers, understand their workflows, explore solutions, and work with engineers to bring them into the product. Stay close to implementation and use feedback to improve what ships.

Shape product direction: Identify the underlying needs behind feature requests, challenge assumptions, and help the team decide what to build next.

Build a cohesive design system: Create reusable patterns, components, and interaction principles that make our platform consistent and easier to extend.

Design for people working with AI: Make it clear what agents are doing, where human review is needed, and how users can understand results, handle exceptions, and stay in control.

Choose the right level of investment: Know when a quick prototype or MVP will answer the question and when a workflow needs more exploration, fidelity, and polish.

You’re a great fit if you:

Thrive in ambiguity and take ownership. You’ve delivered strong outcomes without a heavy process. You can turn an open question into a clear next step and carry the work through.

Think in systems. You spot patterns across different requests and build design languages and foundational solutions that scale.

Have strong taste and attention to detail. Your work shows intentionality across interaction and visual design, and you can explain the choices you made.

Listen closely and communicate clearly. You draw out insights from customer conversations, translate technical constraints into design opportunities, and help stakeholders make decisions without lengthy alignment cycles.

Move quickly with good judgment. You make progress through prototypes, clear decisions, and close collaboration. You know which details matter now and which can evolve.

Are excited to build products around AI. You’ve built or designed AI products professionally or through your own projects, and you’re curious about how new capabilities can solve real user problems.

Bonus:

Startup background or founder experience.

Experience designing complex workflows, enterprise software, or tools that combine automation and human review.

Experience prototyping in code or partnering closely with engineers on implementation.

Team characteristics

Integrity: We value thoughtful people who earn trust, keep their commitments, and care about the quality of their work.

Ambition: Our goal is a $100bn+ business spanning vertical services. We want teammates who bring equally serious ambitions to their own development, whether as expert practitioners, leaders, or future founders.

Trajectory

As Pace’s first Product Designer, you’ll establish how we approach design and the standards we build around. As the company grows, you’ll have opportunities to deepen your craft, expand your product ownership, and help shape the design team.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary and meaningful equity ownership

Medical, dental, and vision insurance

Unlimited paid time off
