About the Company

Simile is The Simulation Company. We simulate human behavior to keep people at the center of the decisions that shape the world. With AI, anyone can create a product, a campaign, a policy, or a script — the bottleneck has moved upstream. The hard question is no longer whether you can create something, but what to create, for whom, and how to bring it to life. Those are fundamentally human decisions, and they shouldn't be left to chance or handed off to an algorithm. We're building the infrastructure to understand human behavior at scale and to represent humans in an increasingly agentic world. Our mission is to simulate all eight billion people on earth.

We launched five months ago. Since then we've grown revenue 5x, built a new foundation model for human behavior that has run tens of millions of simulations for F100 enterprises, trained a first-of-its-kind confidence model that predicts the accuracy of every simulation, and released the first product that lets organizations verifiably predict the future. The world's leading companies use Simile to make business-critical decisions — from consumer leaders like CVS Health and Wealthfront to professional services organizations like Deloitte and Gallup — strategizing product launches, entering new markets, and forecasting earnings calls.

We've raised over $200M at a $2B post-money valuation led by Greenoaks, with Index Ventures, Hanabi, A*, Bain Capital Ventures, and CVS Health Ventures. We've grown from a small home in Palo Alto to a global team of 50+, and we're building a team of the best researchers, engineers, designers, and operators in the world. The future is too important to be left to chance.

About the Role

As a Product Engineer - Member of Technical Staff, you will be responsible for building the platform that harnesses our core foundation model. This isn't just about building a UI; it’s about designing the infrastructure and interfaces that enable complex, multi-agent simulations for the world’s most sophisticated organizations.

We are looking for full-stack engineers who can bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and production-grade enterprise software. You will design and scale the systems that allow customers to orchestrate thousands of generative agents, observe emergent behaviors, and derive actionable insights from simulated societies.

Your core responsibilities will include:

End-to-End Ownership: Own the development lifecycle for new enterprise products, from initial design and backend services to user-facing components and APIs.

Product Collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, designers, and external customers to translate complex human-behavior simulations into simple, usable interfaces.

System Evolution: Build and iterate on systems that drive customer workflows, ensuring they are reliable, performant, and scalable as we model human behavior at a global scale.

Technical Excellence: Write clean, well-tested code and participate in rigorous code reviews to maintain high system quality and safety in production.

Pragmatic Shipping: Balance long-term technical architecture with the need to ship incrementally and learn from real-world usage.

Requirements

Must Haves

Experience: 5+ years of professional engineering experience (excluding internships) at tech and product-driven companies.

Full-Stack Proficiency: Strong command of TypeScript and React for the frontend, and proficiency in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, or Node.js).

Product Thinking: A track record of balancing technical excellence with a pragmatic approach to shipping, always keeping the customer’s problem at the center of the solution.

Systems Fundamentals: Experience with relational databases (e.g., Postgres/MySQL) and a solid understanding of distributed systems concepts.

Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment by navigating loosely defined tasks and managing competing priorities effectively.

Nice to Haves

Foundational Experience: Former founder or early startup engineer who has built and scaled a product from scratch.

AI/ML Interest: While direct experience isn't required, a deep interest in how generative agents and foundation models can be surfaced to users is a major plus.

High-Stakes Reliability: Experience building systems where reliability, safety, and performance are mission-critical.

Compensation & Benefits

At Simile , we provide competitive compensation packages that include base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

Salary Range: $200,000 – $400,000 USD
