Summary of Role:
MIPS is building a modern ecommerce platform to make it easier for customers, partners, and developers to discover, evaluate, purchase, and manage MIPS products and services. The platform will support both digital goods, including software, licenses, documentation, training, and support offerings, as well as physical goods that require fulfillment, inventory coordination, logistics, tax handling, and import/export compliance. This role will help define the requirements and operating model for a trusted commerce experience that connects product discovery, ordering, fulfillment, entitlement, support, and lifecycle management.
As the Product Manager / Product Owner, you will own the ecommerce roadmap, requirements, and backlog. You will translate business goals, customer workflows, operational constraints, and compliance needs into clear, prioritized deliverables for engineering and implementation partners. You will work across product management, engineering, finance, tax, legal, sales operations, supply chain, customer support, IT, security, and external commerce, payment, logistics, and fulfillment partners to launch and scale a platform that is reliable, compliant, measurable, and easy to use.
Essential Responsibilities:
Own the Ecommerce Product Backlog: Define, prioritize, and continuously refine epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria across product catalog, pricing, cart, checkout, payments, tax, fulfillment, entitlement, support, and account management.
Shape the Roadmap: Build and maintain a rolling 12 to 18 month ecommerce roadmap aligned with MIPS commercial priorities, product launches, customer needs, channel strategy, and operational readiness.
Represent the Buyer and Internal Operator: Develop a deep understanding of customer purchasing journeys, partner workflows, sales operations, support needs, and internal fulfillment processes; convert those insights into requirements that improve conversion, compliance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Deliver Commerce Capabilities: Run agile planning and delivery with cross-functional teams to ship high-value capabilities such as product configuration, quote-to-order workflows, license delivery, payment processing, order tracking, returns or replacements, and customer self-service.
Enable Digital and Physical Goods: Define requirements for digital delivery, software licensing, entitlement management, documentation access, training content, and support offerings, while also supporting physical goods that require inventory visibility, shipping options, logistics coordination, and post-purchase service.
Drive Tax, Trade, and Compliance Requirements: Work with finance, tax, legal, security, and compliance teams to capture requirements for sales tax, VAT, invoicing, export controls, import restrictions, restricted-party screening, product classification, data privacy, and auditability.
Support Customer and Partner Programs: Coordinate beta programs, pilot launches, and partner integrations with commerce platform vendors, payment providers, tax engines, fulfillment providers, logistics partners, and systems integrators.
Prepare for Launch and Scale: Collaborate with product marketing, sales, customer support, finance, and operations on launch readiness, enablement, communications, reporting, support processes, and ongoing platform adoption.
Measure and Optimize: Define success metrics for conversion, activation, order accuracy, fulfillment cycle time, entitlement delivery, payment success, support volume, compliance exceptions, and revenue influence; use data to improve the platform continuously.
Collaborate Across Functions: Build strong working relationships with engineering, IT, security, finance, tax, legal, supply chain, sales operations, customer support, product marketing, and external partners.
Other Responsibilities:
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years in product management, product ownership, ecommerce, digital platforms, enterprise software, marketplace platforms, or commerce operations, with experience translating complex business and operational requirements into delivered product capabilities.
Experience with ecommerce platform capabilities such as product catalogs, pricing, cart and checkout, payments, subscriptions or renewals, tax calculation, invoicing, customer accounts, order management, and analytics.
Working knowledge of supply chain and fulfillment processes for physical goods, including inventory coordination, shipping methods, carrier integration, returns, replacements, and post-purchase support.
Familiarity with sales tax, VAT, import/export restrictions, export controls, restricted-party screening, product classification, invoicing, and audit requirements for global commerce.
Strong fluency with modern software delivery practices, agile product ownership, systems integration, API-based platforms, identity and access management, security, data privacy, and usage analytics.
Experience working with external vendors or partners such as ecommerce platform providers, payment processors, tax engines, ERP or CRM systems, logistics partners, fulfillment providers, or systems integrators.
Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management across engineering, internal central functions, business leaders, customer-facing teams, and external partners. Key Performance Indicators
