Snap Inc is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.
The Company operates Snapchat , a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world, and Specs Inc. , a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to making computing more human, in addition to Bitmoji , Saturn, and other digital services.
The Snapchat Product team combines creativity, research, data-driven insights, and operational excellence to shape the experiences that make Snapchat engaging and impactful for our global community. This team of Designers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, Researchers, and Strategists works collaboratively across areas such as Core Growth, User Experience, Bitmoji, Augmented Reality, and Emerging Products. Together, they craft innovative solutions that enhance user connections, elevate content and AR experiences, and drive the growth and evolution of Snapchat's core platform.
We're looking for a Product Manager, Search Platform to join our team at Snap Inc!
What you'll do:
- Own the product strategy and roadmap for Search across Snapchat, spanning each reason a Snapchatter opens Search: finding friends to message and Snap, discovering creators, exploring content, and learning more about what's happening right now
- Raise the quality of content search end to end, from query understanding to result ranking and presentation, so Snapchatters reliably find the Spotlight videos, Stories, creators, and topics they're looking for
- Make Search the place to see what's trending on Snapchat by surfacing timely content, suggestions, and trending topics before and as Snapchatters type
- Expand Search's ability to surface commercial content, making it easy to find product-centric videos, reviews, and creators, and partnering with Ads and Commerce teams on how that content is surfaced and measured
- Own the platform surfaces that connect Snapchatters to content across the app, including search entry points, header and footer navigation, and cross-surface integration
- Extend Snapchat beyond the app through OS-level features such as home and lock screen widgets, Live Activities, and other system integrations that bring Snapchatters back to the moments that matter to them
- Develop goals, strategy, and roadmaps. Own products and features from conception to launch and beyond and set the metrics that inform their success and impact
- Collaborate with partners across Product, Engineering, Design, Data Science, Legal, and Policy to align teams on a shared vision and steer execution toward that vision
- Develop and present go-forward recommendations with key stakeholders, closely monitoring and measuring the results of all features
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proven ability to develop a product strategy for search, discovery, or recommendation systems and translate it into a prioritized, data-driven roadmap
- Strong technical acumen, with the ability to discuss query understanding, retrieval, ranking, and relevance evaluation trade-offs with engineering and data science teams
- Proven ability to define and analyze success metrics and input metrics for a large organization, including search success, engagement, and content quality measures
- Strong product judgment for navigation and platform UX, including the ability to balance the needs of many teams competing for shared entry points and screen real estate
- Strong analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and approach problems with system-level thinking
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trust and align cross-functional teams across engineering, design, data science, and beyond
- Ability to deliver exceptional results in a fast-paced but collaborative and kind environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience
- 4+ years of product management experience building and shipping products at a technology company
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience working on search, discovery, recommendations, or platform and navigation experiences
- Experience building products powered by machine-learning and AI
- Experience building commerce or shopping-oriented content discovery, or partnering with monetization teams on product surfaces
- Experience shipping iOS or Android system-level integrations such as widgets, Live Activities, or App Intents
- Passion for Snapchat and creative problem solving
