About MDIF
The Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) provides financing and support to independent media around the world, news outlets and other sources of information that give people in challenging environments the news and information they need to build free, thriving societies. Alongside investment, MDIF works directly with media organizations to strengthen their business operations, grow and diversify revenue, and build toward long-term sustainability.
About the Role
MDIF is seeking a well-connected, highly organized media professional based in Ukraine to serve as Program Manager, Ukraine. In this part-time consulting role, you will be MDIF’s local point of contact for ambitious independent Ukrainian media, helping them strengthen their businesses, grow and diversify revenue, and build toward long-term sustainability and investment readiness.
You will work closely with media partners, coaches and consultants, local allies and MDIF colleagues to ensure high-quality delivery, strong partner relationships and measurable impact.
What You’ll Do
Help identify and assess independent Ukrainian media with genuine growth and investment potential, drawing on your local networks and market knowledge.
Serve as the trusted, day-to-day point of contact for MDIF’s Ukrainian media partners, providing ongoing programmatic support and follow-up.
Coordinate the delivery of coaching, mentoring, expert consultancies and workshops, and follow up to make sure recommendations are put into practice.
Source and liaise with consultants, coaches and technical advisors, much of whose support is delivered remotely.
Track partners’ editorial, organizational and business progress and contribute to partner reviews and assessments.
Keep MDIF informed on the Ukrainian media market and on political, economic and social developments affecting the sector.
Help plan and organize workshops, trainings and partner convenings, online and, security permitting, in person.
Provide related administrative and logistical support, including gathering data and reporting inputs.
What You Bring
Professional Experience
5+ years of experience in program or project management, media, journalism, media development or media support.
In-depth knowledge of the Ukrainian media landscape and of Ukraine’s political, economic and social context.
A business-development or venture-building mindset — comfortable working on revenue, growth and sustainability, not grants alone.
Direct experience working with media founders, editors or management teams.
Experience coordinating coaches, consultants or other external experts.
Core Skills & Competencies
An existing network of trusted contacts across Ukrainian independent media.
Experience with investment readiness, venture building or startup support
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate within an international team.
Fluency in Ukrainian and professional proficiency in English (written and spoken), including the ability to translate accurately between the two.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience with demonstrated expertise considered in lieu of formal academic credentials.
The Engagement at a Glance
Time commitment: Part-time, approximately two to three days per week. Working days are flexible rather than fixed and will vary with program needs.
Start: January 2027, or as soon as the right candidate is identified.
Term: Two-year consulting engagement.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience. MDIF is committed to offering fair and competitive compensation, which will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
To Apply
Please submit your CV along with responses to the pre-screening questions by November 30, 2026 . Applications must be submitted in English.
To be considered for this role, please apply using the link provided in this posting. Applications submitted through any other channel will not be reviewed. Applications will be reviewed on rolling basis.
