Summary

The Program Support Assistant for the planning, development, implementation and oversight of Mental Health Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) and access initiatives for the purpose of providing healthcare of sharing of medical resources for the benefit of veterans.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as Program Assistant (Jackson/CBOC Outreach/Access Improvement Coordinator)for all mental health contracts and ensures adherence to the contract. Receives/forwards mental health and CBOC consults; coordinates telemental health patients' appointments; receives/forwards mental health and CBOC consults; coordinates telemental health patients' appointments. Responsible for resolving all mental health patient advocate concerns and resolve in PATSR. Responsible for educating staff on VERA dollar reimbursement and tracking patients that meet criteria for reimbursement. Responsible for the planning of workload distribution and the formulation and execution of annual budget requests. Serves as the health care consultant to mental health management in relation to the mental health clinics and the CBOCs. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (Subject to change based on the needs of the Agency) Telework: This position may be authorized for telework. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/02/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Prepare letters, memos, and reports by gathering, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. Organize, update, retain, and share office records and information. Experience with automation duties using software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database, and/or graphics. Provided administrative support including maintaining files, disseminating information, and tracking suspense dates to ensure timely completion of assigned actions. Communicating information consistent with established policies and procedures to customers and stakeholders.
