Crown Infrastructure Delivery is seeking an experienced Project Director to join our Capital Projects and Advisory team. The initial focus for this role will be leading delivery of the Ministry for Primary Industries' new Plant Health and Environment Capability (PHEC) facility in Auckland, a nationally significant 10,500m² high-containment laboratory that will strengthen New Zealand's biosecurity capability for decades to come. Biosecurity work protects a horticultural export sector worth billions.

Beyond this opportunity, Project Directors at CID contribute across our broader portfolio of Crown infrastructure projects and programmes, bringing their expertise where it can deliver the greatest impact.

Who are we

At CID, we are trusted to deliver infrastructure that matters. As a Crown-owned company, we partner with government agencies to manage the delivery of complex infrastructure and property projects that support New Zealand's communities, economy and future resilience.

Our people are motivated by purpose and the opportunity to work on nationally significant projects. We combine expert delivery expertise with a practical, collaborative approach, creating an environment where experienced project professionals can make a genuine impact while continuing to grow their careers.

About the Role

As Project Director, you will lead complex infrastructure projects from planning and procurement through to construction, commissioning and handover. You will be accountable for delivery outcomes, provide strategic advice to clients and stakeholders, and lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful project outcomes.

Key areas of responsibilities include:

Leading project delivery across all phases of the project lifecycle.

Providing commercial, contractual and governance leadership.

Building trusted relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and key stakeholders.

Managing project performance across scope, budget, programme, quality and risk.

Leading and developing project teams.

What you will bring

You are an accomplished project delivery leader with a track record of successfully leading large, complex infrastructure projects in complex stakeholder environments.

We are looking for someone who brings:

Extensive experience leading large and complex infrastructure or capital projects.

Ideally experience in delivery of certified containment facilities.

Strong commercial, contractual and financial management capability.

Proven success building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and delivery partners.

Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing high-performing project environments.

Sound judgement, resilience and the ability to navigate complexity and competing priorities.

Why join us?

Lead nationally significant infrastructure projects that create lasting value for New Zealand.

Join a diverse portfolio of complex projects and programmes across the Crown sector.

Work alongside experienced project professionals in a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Enjoy flexibility, autonomy and opportunities for continued professional growth.
