Project Engineer - Heavy Civil

Build Your Future with KCI! KCI is looking for a Project Engineer to join our team, with an initial assignment to the Union Station Tunnel Rehabilitation Project . This unique infrastructure project will require dedicated night-shift work for approximately one year.

Initial Project Schedule: 6:00 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Following completion of the Union Station project, this position will transition to other KCI projects based on business and project needs. A night-shift premium will be provided in addition to base salary while assigned to this schedule.

What You’ll Do

Coordinate and track submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs to keep the project moving forward

Maintain project logs and ensure timely follow-up and resolution

Track production for self-performed work and support the team in meeting productivity goals

Measure and verify in-place quantities for unit price work

Assist with project reporting, meeting coordination, and documentation

Support schedule updates and participate in weekly progress meetings

Maintain accurate as-built drawings and assist with project closeout documentation, including O&M manuals

Collaborate with estimating and project teams as needed

Take on additional responsibilities that support successful project delivery

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

1–3 years of construction experience preferred. Entry-level candidates with relevant construction internship experience are encouraged to apply.

Exposure to heavy civil or infrastructure projects is a plus

Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills

Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Procore, HCSS, and Vista experience is a plus
