Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant technical diploma or university degree with ten years of increasing responsibility in various positions on large resource projects with special consideration for mining and tailings environments
  • 4-8 years project leadership experience on execution of diverse projects varying in size, scope and complexity
  • Increasing knowledge of practices and processes of project disciplines and support functions (i.e. EHS, engineering, construction, project controls, SCM etc.)
  • Experienced in risk identification, analysis and mitigation/management, and in the application of the Risk Management process
  • Has experience with Contractor and Supplier Management
  • Previous field experience in an Oil and Gas and/or Mining and Tailings operating environment is considered an asset
  • Member of, or eligible to become a member of APEGA (P. Eng) is considered an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates and models purposeful and visible safety leadership
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, EH&S practices and procedures
  • Understand construction in mining and tailings environments to mitigate risks and hazards in the field
  • Ensure that the coordination with regulatory SME takes place, for managed scope, to understand the relevant legislation to the project, and requirements are complied with by both Suncor and contractors
  • Ensure management of the Project Legal Registry and RC tool
  • Ensure that hazards are assessed and managed through design (including process safety) and construction. Supports hazard reviews during design, for their managed scope
  • Assist in the development of the Integrated Project Execution Plan, and manage project work and integrated team members to ensure that the plan is adhered to and is updated

Location and other key details:

  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of the Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
