the posting

ChemTreat is seeking a Project Manager to manage its water treatment scope for the PHX13 data center project. Working with district leadership, technical specialists, field personnel, and the construction team, this position coordinates the work from preconstruction planning and procurement through field execution, commissioning support, and final turnover.

The work includes mechanical system flushing, chemical cleaning, passivation, deionized (DI) water production and filling, temporary pumping and filtration, water quality monitoring, and glycol filling for designated systems. The successful candidate combines practical mechanical knowledge with strong scheduling, cost control, documentation, and contractor coordination skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple work areas concurrently. Execution follows approved technical procedures, defined contractual responsibilities, and required project acceptance approvals.

Key Responsibilities

Project planning and contractor coordination

· Develop and maintain execution plans, milestone schedules, short-term look-ahead schedules, resource plans, and readiness checklists for mobilization, treatment, testing, final fill, and turnover.

· Review contracts, mechanical drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), specifications, equipment submittals, and approved procedures to identify system boundaries, scope gaps, dependencies, and required approvals.

· Coordinate with the mechanical contractor, general contractor, owner and commissioning representatives, ChemTreat personnel, and equipment providers. Lead job walks and coordination meetings; track action items, decisions, access needs, and trade conflicts.

· Coordinate concurrent work across data halls or system segments while maintaining separate scope, cost, equipment, and acceptance records for distinct contracts and for water and glycol systems.

Technical execution and system readiness

· Coordinate approved flushing, chemical cleaning, passivation, neutralization, rinsing, DI filling, and startup activities. Coordinate glycol receipt, handling, quality checks, and final fill for systems that require glycol.

· Work with technical specialists and equipment providers to review required flow, pump duty, system head loss, filtration capacity, component pressure ratings, and temporary hose and piping arrangements against approved project requirements.

· Confirm readiness of system isolation, temporary connections, sampling points, utilities, and equipment interfaces before each work phase. Coordinate protection of sensitive equipment and compliance with manufacturer requirements.

· Review field flow, pressure, filter differential pressure, and water quality records to identify deviations, operating constraints, or equipment service needs; coordinate corrective action with the responsible technical and field personnel.

· Track approved chemical requirements, equipment compatibility, treatment durations, and release points. Escalate specification conflicts and obtain required technical approval before changes to treatment methods, equipment, or acceptance criteria.

Procurement, equipment, and site logistics

· Coordinate vendor quotations, scope comparisons, technical submittals, purchase requisitions, and delivery commitments. Support requests for proposal (RFPs), estimating, and proposal development for assigned work or project changes.

· Plan delivery, offloading, placement, rental periods, servicing, and demobilization of temporary pumps, filters, DI equipment, storage tanks, hoses, instrumentation, chemicals, and other assigned equipment.

· Match DI water supply, storage, chemical deliveries, filtration support, and vendor service availability to the execution schedule. Track long-lead items, consumables, and contingency needs to reduce field interruptions.

· Coordinate water collection, storage capacity, approved discharge routes, and release timing with the construction team and treatment specialists. Track temporary and permanent equipment separately and confirm designated equipment remains in place at turnover.

Schedule, budget, and change control

· Maintain project budgets, purchase commitments, labor and equipment forecasts, rental utilization, and cost-to-complete estimates. Identify cost or schedule variances and recommend corrective action to district leadership.

· Document scope changes, requests for information (RFIs), field constraints, and their cost and schedule impacts. Obtain commercial and technical approvals within delegated authority before committing to changed work.

· Maintain daily progress records and provide regular status reports covering completed work, upcoming milestones, resource needs, risks, and decisions required. Support invoice review, billing documentation, and final cost reconciliation.

Quality, testing, and project closeout

· Coordinate baseline, in-process, and final sampling, field testing, laboratory submissions, and sample traceability. Track results against the applicable project specification and approved acceptance criteria for each system.

· Maintain records of flow conditions, treatment times, chemical additions, pH, conductivity or resistivity, turbidity or particle results, and other specified parameters; confirm required measuring equipment is ready and calibration records are available.

· Track inspections, witness points, required approvals before advancing work, deficiencies, and corrective actions. Coordinate reinspection or retesting and document authorization to proceed to subsequent phases.

· Compile turnover packages with approved procedures, test reports, treatment logs, equipment records, operation and maintenance information, applicable drawing updates, punch-list closure, and required acceptance documentation. Capture lessons learned and coordinate handoff to ongoing service personnel.

Safety and environmental coordination

· Apply company and site safety requirements within ChemTreat’s scope. Coordinate pre-task planning, required permits, safety data sheets (SDS), personal protective equipment, chemical handling, and containment with qualified personnel.

· Confirm required hazard reviews and controls are addressed for temporary pumping, pressurized connections, electrical interfaces, equipment movement, isolation, and energy control before work proceeds.

· Coordinate spill prevention, housekeeping, and approved discharge controls. Address and escalate unsafe conditions, incidents, and environmental concerns promptly through the company and site reporting processes.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience.

· At least 3 years of relevant project management experience in industrial water treatment, mechanical construction, commissioning support, or comparable industrial field projects, with increasing responsibility for execution and results.

· Demonstrated ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and equipment submittals and translate requirements into practical work plans, schedules, and field coordination activities.

· Working knowledge of closed-loop piping, pumps, valves, filtration, flow, pressure, and basic system operation; ability to identify technical issues and engage the appropriate specialists.

· Experience managing schedules, budgets, procurement, vendors or subcontractors, and change documentation on projects involving multiple stakeholders and site dependencies.

· Ability to coordinate field personnel and service providers, manage competing priorities, and resolve problems while maintaining project records and following approval processes.

· Proficiency with spreadsheets, written reporting, project scheduling tools, and electronic document control systems; ability to maintain accurate cost, equipment, and progress tracking.

· Clear written and verbal communication
