Job Description – Travelling Safety Advisor

  • Company: The PAC Group
  • Department: Global Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Programme: VAPR Projects – North America
  • Location: Field-Based / Multi-Site Travel
  • Reports To: Global EHS Leadership

This role requires extensive travel, with travel expected to account for more than 75% of the time.

Position Summary

The PAC Group is seeking a proactive, experienced and hands-on Travelling Safety Advisor to support the delivery of VAPR projects across North America.

The role will focus on contractor safety management, operational compliance, client requirements and effective stakeholder engagement, ensuring all activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with applicable OSHA regulations, client standards and PAC Group EHS expectations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and reinforcing established safety procedures rather than developing unnecessary new systems or processes. The emphasis is on practical field-level support, contractor accountability, early identification of risks and effective coordination with project and client leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Contractor Management and Site Safety

Oversee contractor and subcontractor EHS compliance throughout project execution.

Verify contractor onboarding, inductions, training, competencies and applicable safety documentation.

Ensure daily pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) are completed and effectively communicated.

Conduct routine site inspections, safety observations and compliance assessments.

Monitor contractor adherence to PPE requirements, safe working procedures and site behavioural standards.

Identify unsafe conditions and behaviours, coordinate corrective actions and verify timely close-out.

Exercise Stop Work Authority where activities present an unacceptable risk.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

Act as the primary field-level EHS contact for PAC project teams, contractors and designated client representatives.

Understand, communicate and implement applicable client EHS requirements and site-specific expectations.

Maintain effective working relationships with client stakeholders, project managers and contractor leadership.

Proactively communicate safety concerns, operational risks, emerging issues and corrective actions.

Support client safety meetings, inspections, audits and project reviews.

Escalate significant risks or compliance concerns to PAC Global EHS leadership in a timely manner.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management

Ensure project activities comply with applicable OSHA regulations, state requirements and client safety standards.

Review and verify the suitability of JHAs, risk assessments, method statements and relevant permits.

Monitor high-risk activities, including electrical work, hazardous energy control (LOTO), lifting operations, working at height, mobile equipment and other project-specific hazards.

Support incident and near-miss reporting, investigations and corrective action management.

Verify that required safety documentation and compliance records are maintained accurately.

Project Delivery and Reporting

Provide practical, solutions-focused EHS support to enable safe and efficient project delivery.

Work closely with project leadership to integrate safety requirements into daily planning and execution.

Produce concise safety updates, inspection findings and project EHS reports.

Track outstanding actions and ensure timely resolution with responsible contractors and stakeholders.

Identify opportunities to improve safety performance through existing PAC and client systems.

Support mobilisation, demobilisation and transitions between project locations.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

Minimum 3–5 years of relevant EHS experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, installation or similar project environments.

Demonstrable experience overseeing contractors and subcontractors.

Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and practical workplace safety requirements.

Experience conducting site inspections, reviewing JHAs and supporting incident investigations.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work independently across multiple project locations.

Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout North America.

Valid driving licence and ability to meet applicable travel and site-access requirements.

Preferred

OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry training, as appropriate to project activities.

Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent.

Experience supporting multi-site projects, client-led programmes or contractor-intensive operations.

Experience in vehicle modification, automotive, manufacturing or industrial installation environments.

Key Competencies

Strong field presence and practical safety leadership.

Contractor management and accountability.

Effective client and stakeholder communication.

Sound judgement and proactive risk identification.

Ability to resolve issues without unnecessarily disrupting project delivery.

Clear reporting, documentation and follow-through.

Adaptability, professionalism and willingness to travel.

Performance Expectations

Success in this role will be measured through:

Contractor compliance with PAC and client EHS requirements.

Effective completion of daily pre-start briefings, JHAs and site inspections.

Timely identification, escalation and closure of safety concerns.

Quality of communication with client representatives and PAC leadership.

Compliance with applicable regulatory and contractual obligations.

Effective safety support contributing to successful project delivery.

Role Expectations

This is a practical, delivery-focused EHS position. The successful candidate is expected to utilise existing PAC Group and client safety frameworks, applying them consistently and effectively rather than reinventing established processes.

The priority is to maintain a visible site presence, manage contractor compliance, build strong client relationships, resolve issues proactively and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements.

The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, education, and qualifications.

Pay Range

$45 — $50 USD
