About Organization

Within Rakuten Symphony, the Quality Assurance Office serves as a central organization within the Internet Service Business Unit (ISBU). We collaborate with diverse product development teams to ensure that CPaaS, Rakuten Maritime, NEO, and SendAnywhere applications meet customer needs and expectations while effectively managing quality risks.

We are looking for a motivated and talented QA Engineer to join the Rakuten CPaaS team. CPaaS (Communication Platform as a Service) is a cloud-based application that allows businesses to maintain and enhance communication with their customers through customizable features. Our mission is to execute quality assurance by monitoring development cycles, pursuing process efficiency through standardization and automation, promoting a customer-focused mindset, and leveraging AI technologies to enhance testing strategies and drive data-informed quality improvements.

Job Duties

• •Quality Strategy & Execution: Execute and monitor the development cycle and product deliveries while promoting a constant "Customer Focus" mindset.
• •Test Design & Validation: Design comprehensive test cases to ensure robust product validation and align testing strategies with developers and cross-functional teams.
• •Automation Development: Design, develop, and maintain manual and automated test suites for frontend and backend components across diverse product features.
• •Pipeline Optimization: Monitor, manage, and optimize automated test pipelines for efficiency and reliability, leveraging CI/CD best practices.
• •Issue Analysis: Investigate issues, analyze functional specifications in detail, and perform effective debugging via detailed log review to recommend improvements for the overall customer experience.
• •AI-Driven Innovation: Leverage AI technologies to enhance testing strategies, automate tasks, identify defects earlier, and develop AI-driven frameworks to improve test efficiency and STLC (Software Test Life Cycle) maturity.
• •Technical Growth: Demonstrate a strong desire to continuously improve technical skills in both frontend and backend test automation and adopt AI-powered enhancements.

Minimum Qualifications

• •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• •3–5 years of strong hands-on experience as a QA Engineer with both automation and manual expertise.
• •Working knowledge of AI-assisted software test lifecycle, including effective use of Generative AI / LLM tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) for test generation, analysis, debugging, and productivity improvement.
• •Expertise in one or more programming languages, preferably Java, Python, or Kotlin.
• •Experience in Web automation using any industry-standard framework.
• •Experience in API automation using any industry-standard framework.
• •Experience in pipeline maintenance and a solid understanding of CI/CD processes and tools (e.g., Argo, Jenkins, CircleCI).
• •Experience using Version Control Systems (VCS) such as GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
• •English proficiency (written and verbal communication).[

Preferred Qualifications

• •Experience in performance testing.
• •Experience with Kubernetes.
• •Exposure to the Python language.

Work Environment

• •Team Composition: The Rakuten CPaaS Section is a global team with members located in Tokyo, the UK, and India. You will be based in the Tokyo office, working in a diverse, multicultural environment.
• •Tech Stack: Kotlin, Java, Python, Git, and AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Copilot, etc.).
