QA Automation Engineer (SDET 2)

Roles and Responsibilities :

Own quality end-to-end

• •Take ownership of quality for features across frontend and backend systems
• •Participate in requirement discussions and identify edge cases early

Build and scale automation

• •Design and implement automation frameworks for UI, API and integration testing
• •Ensure high test coverage across critical user journeys and backend services
• •Continuously improve test reliability, execution speed and maintainability

Shift-left testing

• •Collaborate with developers to embed testing early in the development lifecycle
• •Drive practices like test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD)

API & backend validation

• •Build automated tests for microservices, APIs, and data workflows
• •Validate business logic, integrations, and data consistency

CI/CD integration

• •Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines
• •Ensure fast feedback loops and prevent regressions in production

Collaboration & communication

• •Work closely with Engineering, Product and DevOps teams to ensure smooth releases
• •Clearly communicate quality risks and testing status to stakeholders

Leverage AI in testing

• •Use AI tools to accelerate test creation, debugging, and coverage analysis
• •Build intelligent test strategies using data and AI-assisted tooling

Required Skill Set :

• •B.E / B.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent
• •3 to 5 years of experience in QA with a strong focus on automation

Core automation skills

• •Strong programming skills in Java / JavaScript / Python
• •Experience with UI automation tools (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, etc.)
• •Experience with API testing tools (Rest Assured, Postman, Super test, etc.)

Backend understanding

• •Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture
• •Experience validating backend systems, data flows, and integrations

Testing fundamentals

• •Solid understanding of test design techniques, test strategies and quality metrics
• •Experience with regression, integration and system testing

CI/CD & tooling

• •Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
• •Familiarity with version control systems like Git

Data & debugging

• •Working knowledge of SQL and database validation
• •Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills

AI-native mindset

• •Comfortable using AI tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.) to improve testing productivity
• •Ability to evaluate and validate AI-generated test cases and scripts

Good to Have Skill Set

• •Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, k6, etc.)
• •Experience testing event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• •Exposure to mobile app testing
• •Experience with Docker / Kubernetes environments
• •Experience building internal QA tools or frameworks
