Role Summary

The QA Engineer is the operational owner of day-to-day QA execution for Power, ensuring releases meet agreed quality standards with minimal supervision. The role coordinates regression testing, environment readiness, defect follow-up, and QA sign-off while expanding automation across critical user journeys. Working with the Quality Lead, Business Analysts, and development teams, the Senior QA Engineer maintains requirements traceability, mentors junior QA engineers, and reports quality metrics. The role ensures testing continues reliably when senior team members are engaged in client work.

Key Responsibilities

Release QA Ownership

Operationally own QA execution for each release, including test scope, regression sequencing, task allocation, and progress tracking.

Confirm environment readiness, test data, access, and build availability before testing; coordinate resolution of blockers.

Execute and coordinate functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing across critical workflows.

Coordinate defect triage, retesting, and closure with development teams, and escalate unresolved release risks promptly.

Consolidate test results, outstanding defects, and quality risks to coordinate QA sign-off with the designated approvers.

Test Automation and Continuous Improvement

Build, maintain, and improve automated tests across critical user journeys, prioritising business risk and repeatable regression scenarios.

Continuously expand automation coverage and improve test reliability, maintainability, and execution efficiency.

Investigate automated test failures, address unreliable tests, and distinguish product defects from test or environment issues.

Requirements Traceability and Test Case Management

Partner with Business Analysts to clarify acceptance criteria and ensure test coverage and traceability for every Functional Requirements Document (FRD).\

Maintain and manage the test case repository, keeping cases current, reusable, prioritised, and linked to requirements and execution results.

Review test coverage when requirements change and identify gaps before release testing begins.

Mentoring and Quality Reporting

Mentor junior QA engineers through task allocation, practical guidance, and review of test cases, defect reports, automation, and execution outputs.

Balance testing priorities and team capacity, escalating delivery risks or resource constraints to the Quality Lead.

Report defect escape rate, regression cycle time, and automation coverage to the Quality Lead and Department Head, using agreed definitions and consistent data.

Highlight quality trends and recurring defects, recommend improvements, and track agreed actions.

Experience and Skills

Essential

3–5 years of hands-on experience in manual testing and test automation.

Strong banking and fintech domain knowledge, with the ability to assess critical financial workflows, business rules, and transaction risks.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate release testing independently, manage regression priorities, and communicate release readiness and unresolved risks.

Practical experience building and maintaining automated tests, investigating failures, and improving test coverage.

Strong understanding of test design, defect management, requirements traceability, test environment readiness, and the software development lifecycle.

Ability to translate functional requirements and acceptance criteria into comprehensive test scenarios and maintain an organised test repository.

Ability to guide junior QA engineers, allocate work, review outputs, and provide constructive feedback.

Ability to track and interpret QA metrics and use findings to improve testing effectiveness.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ownership, and the ability to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.

Willingness and ability to travel within India and internationally, as required.

Preferred

Experience working in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.

Exposure to end-to-end QA ownership within Agile teams, including planning, execution, defect triage, and release readiness.

Hands-on experience with Testsigma or comparable test automation platforms.

Experience with API testing, SQL-based data validation, version control, or automated test execution in CI/CD pipelines.

Experience coordinating QA activities when team members are supporting client engagements.

What Success Looks Like

Release testing runs reliably, with clear ownership, ready environments, and timely escalation of blockers.

Critical user journeys have effective manual and automated coverage, and test cases remain traceable to requirements.

Quality metrics are accurate and actionable, with progress against agreed improvement targets.

Junior QA engineers deliver consistent outputs with appropriate guidance and review.
