Quality Assurance Officer

Are you someone who notices when something doesn’t quite add up, enjoys getting to the bottom of a problem, and takes pride in getting the detail right?

BioMar Australia is looking for a Quality Assurance Officer to join our Quality team at Wesley Vale.

This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day delivery of quality assurance across our manufacturing operations. You’ll work closely with our Quality Assurance Supervisor, Laboratory Technical Specialist and operational teams to investigate quality issues, support routine laboratory testing, manage samples and quality data, and help ensure our products continue to meet the standards our customers expect.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be involved in a broad range of quality activities, including:

  • supporting Production and Raw Material quality investigations;
  • undertaking routine laboratory testing and analysis;
  • managing retained samples and associated records;
  • supporting reject and quarantine controls;
  • preparing and dispatching samples for external laboratory testing;
  • recording, collating and maintaining accurate quality data;
  • supporting internal audits and site reviews;
  • helping maintain practical quality processes that support our 24/7 operation; and
  • identifying opportunities to improve the way we work.

This is a practical role — some days you’ll be in the laboratory, others you may be working with Production or Raw Materials, investigating an issue, reviewing data or following up a quality action.

About you

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical foundations with the personal drive to make things happen.

You will ideally bring:

  • a mandatory minimum Diploma-level qualification in Science, Laboratory Technology, Quality, Food Technology or a related discipline;
  • a relevant Bachelor’s degree will be highly regarded ;
  • at least 2 years’ experience in quality assurance, laboratory testing, food/feed manufacturing or another regulated operational environment;
  • experience with laboratory testing, sampling, quality systems or investigations;
  • strong attention to detail and confidence working with data and records.

Experience in food, feed, aquaculture or manufacturing would be highly regarded, but we are equally interested in candidates from other regulated environments who bring strong transferable quality and laboratory experience.

The personal attributes that will make you successful

We’re particularly interested in someone who:

  • is a self-starter and takes initiative rather than waiting to be directed at every step;
  • takes ownership and follows work through to completion;
  • stays composed under pressure and can manage competing priorities without losing attention to detail;
  • works collaboratively and builds productive relationships across technical and operational teams;
  • is naturally curious and wants to understand why something has happened, not just fix the immediate symptom;
  • thinks practically and analytically when solving problems;
  • is comfortable speaking up when something doesn’t look right and knows when to escalate;
  • adapts well to change and can work effectively in a busy manufacturing environment; and
  • brings a genuine service mindset — understanding that Quality exists to support safe, reliable and effective operations while maintaining the required standards.

Why BioMar?

BioMar is a global leader in sustainable aquaculture feed, and our Wesley Vale operation plays an important role in supporting the Australian aquaculture industry.

You’ll join a Quality function that is evolving to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment, with clearly defined specialist roles and a strong focus on quality capability, continuous improvement and working closely with Operations.

For the right person, this role offers genuine variety, exposure across the manufacturing process and the opportunity to build a strong career in quality assurance within a global organisation.

If you enjoy solving problems, care about getting things right and want a role where your work has a visible impact on product quality and operational performance, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply, please submit your CV and a short response outlining your relevant experience and what interests you about the role.
