We are an aerospace and defense manufacturing company seeking an experienced Quality Inspector II for our final inspection area.

This position is responsible for inspecting precision-machined and sheet metal parts to make sure they meet blueprint, customer, and quality requirements. Applicants must have hands-on experience inspecting machined metal parts. Experience limited to electronics, medical equipment, or non-machined products will not meet the requirements of this position.

The inspector will work closely with our Quality Administrators, who handle much of the final paperwork and administrative processing. Familiarity with final inspection documents, certifications, First Article Inspection reports, and other quality-administration processes is preferred..

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of precision-machined and sheet metal parts.
  • Read and understand complex blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Use inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, profilometers, optical comparators, thread gauges, and ring gauges.
  • Operate a CMM using approved or established programs.
  • Verify that finished parts meet customer, drawing, and quality requirements.
  • Record inspection results accurately in inspection and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Review material certifications and other inspection documents.
  • Support First Article Inspections.
  • Identify and document parts that do not meet requirements.
  • Work with Quality Administrators to complete the final inspection and document-release process.
  • Verify that inspection tools are calibrated and in good working condition.
  • Follow company safety, FOD-prevention, and quality procedures.
  • Support quality audits and provide inspection records when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Skills/Abilities

  • At least three years of hands-on experience performing visual and dimensional inspections of precision-machined metal parts in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints and apply GD&T requirements, including true position.
  • Experience using surface plate, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, profilometers, optical comparators, thread gauges, and ring gauges.
  • Ability to operate a CMM using approved or established programs.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, and ASME Y14.5 requirements.
  • Basic computer skills, including entering and retrieving inspection information.
  • Good shop-math and tolerance-calculation skills.
  • Excellent attendance, strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with inspectors, Quality Administrators, and production employees.
  • Experience with First Article Inspection documentation, Certificates of Conformance, material certifications, nonconformance reports, and final document review is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FileMaker, 1Factory, or similar manufacturing and quality systems is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Job duties are performed in an open warehouse environment with varying temperatures and exposure to noise, vibrations, fumes, and chemicals.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend throughout the workday.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers repeatedly when operating inspection tools and computer equipment.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pass an annual near-vision and color-perception test, with or without correction.

ITAR Requirement

This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. Applicants must qualify as U.S. persons under ITAR, including U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and certain protected individuals

  • Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

Pay Range

$27.50-$34.00 per hour
