  • Your role and responsibilities
  • We are looking for an R&D Engineer to design, develop and maintain test infrastructures for Research & Development activities. Reporting to the CoE Laboratory Manager the candidate will work on low voltage (LV) 3-phase systems compliant with both IEC and UL standards, taking full ownership of electrical design, embedded firmware development, and laboratory validation.

The work model for the role is: onsite

This role is contributing to the Electrification, Smart Power Division in Quartino, CH.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Design, develop, and maintain electrical test infrastructures for low-voltage (LV) three-phase systems, supporting product development, validation, and certification activities in accordance with IEC and UL standards.
  • Develop and validate embedded firmware and control solutions, including C-based applications and PLC programming, for laboratory and testing environments.
  • Plan and execute functional, performance, and safety testing on hardware prototypes and test setups, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to define requirements, solve technical challenges, and maintain accurate technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in embedded firmware development using C for microcontroller- or microprocessor-based systems.
  • Knowledge of low-voltage three-phase electrical systems, power distribution, power conversion, or UPS technologies.
  • Experience in electrical design, testing, validation, or commissioning of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and industrial automation concepts.
  • Ability to analyze technical requirements, troubleshoot complex issues, and work in a hands-on laboratory environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Professional proficiency in English; additional language skills are considered an advantage.
