The R&D team in Little Falls is seeking a hands-on and curious R&D Technician to support the development of next-generation LC column technologies.
In this role, you will work closely with scientists, engineers, and technicians to prepare, load, test, and evaluate prototype LC columns. You will gain experience with specialized column-loading equipment, chromatographic testing, and the transfer of new technologies from R&D into manufacturing.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical laboratory work, solving technical problems, learning new equipment, and seeing experimental work contribute to real products.
What you will do:
- Prepare and load prototype LC columns using established and developmental processes.
- Prepare slurries, mobile phases, test mixtures, and other laboratory materials.
- Operate specialized column-loading and laboratory equipment.
- Perform HPLC or UHPLC testing to evaluate prototype column performance.
- Collect, analyze, document, and communicate experimental results.
- Maintain complete and accurate laboratory notebooks and technical records.
- Follow standard operating procedures, test methods, and laboratory safety requirements.
- Troubleshoot routine equipment, process, and chromatographic issues.
- Support experiments related to column-loading methods, packing materials, process reproducibility, and product performance.
- Work with R&D and manufacturing colleagues to support process scale-up and technology transfer.
- Recommend practical improvements to laboratory methods, equipment use, and column-loading processes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory workspace.
- Collaborate with local and global project teams while taking ownership of assigned activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Laboratory Technology, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and hands-on laboratory, chemical-processing, or manufacturing experience.
- Ability to follow written procedures and maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe laboratory practices.
- Ability to perform hands-on laboratory work independently after training.
- Ability to organize assigned work, communicate results, and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with HPLC or UHPLC systems.
- Experience with LC columns, chromatography, column packing, or column performance testing.
- Experience preparing slurries, suspensions, buffers, mobile phases, or chemical mixtures.
- Experience operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting specialized laboratory or process equipment.
- Experience supporting product development, process optimization, scale-up, or technology-transfer activities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis and scientific documentation tools.
