At Better Living, Inc., we’ve been building strong communities across Central Virginia for generations. We take pride in providing top-tier building supplies, cabinetry, windows, and doors to regional builders and homeowners. We’re currently looking for a dependable Receiving Assistant to join our team at our Troy, VA facility.

Position Overview

As a Receiving Assistant, you will play a key role in keeping our warehouse and inventory operations running smoothly. You will assist with physical inventory intake and computer logging for both our building supply division and our window, door, and cabinet department. This dynamic role combines active hands-on material handling, inventory tracking, and filling in as a backup delivery driver when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Intake & Processing: Unload, inspect, and log incoming shipments physically and in our inventory computer system across building supplies, cabinetry, windows, and doors.
Backup Driver Duties: Serve as an emergency backup driver for material deliveries as needed.
Team Support: Fill in for Receiving Clerks during planned or unplanned time off.
Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and warehouse environment.
General Support: Perform other operational warehouse duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Driving Record: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy to manage inventory tracking and receiving software.
Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing 50 to 100 lbs on a regular basis.
Work Ethic: Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Experience: Prior building materials or product knowledge is preferred, but not required - we will train the right candidate!
