Description

Summary: The Recruiter is responsible for staffing hourly production and salaried positions across all shifts at Hennig’s Machesney Park facilities. These include welders, electrical and mechanical assemblers, painters, crane and heavy equipment operators, engineers and office staff. The Recruiter manages the full hiring process: sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers, pre-employment checks and onboarding through the first 90 days. The Recruiter works closely with supervisors and managers to fill positions with qualified candidates at the appropriate skill level.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

· Sourcing: Build and run a year-round sourcing plan for hard-to-fill roles such as welders, assemblers and heavy equipment operators, using job boards, social media, the company website, the employee referral program and staffing agency partners.

· Grow talent pipelines with technical schools, community colleges, high schools and workforce partners; represent Hennig at job fairs, career days, plant tours and Manufacturing Day events.

· Reach candidates who are often overlooked, including veterans, people with disabilities, career changers and Spanish-speaking job seekers.

· Keep an active bench of strong past candidates for future openings, so key roles never start from zero.

· Selection: Meet with hiring managers to define each opening: shift, skill level, certifications and true must-haves, using the department training standards.

· Review applications, conduct phone screens and interviews, and schedule skills tests (such as weld tests) and interviews with the hiring team.

· Coordinate drug screens and background checks, and work with HR on any results that need review.

· Prepare and extend verbal and written offers, and discuss pay, shift premiums and benefits with candidates within approved ranges.

· Keep candidates informed at every step, and close out every candidate who is not selected with a timely, respectful message.

· Keep the applicant tracking system current and give managers weekly updates on openings and candidate status.

· Onboarding: Coordinate start dates, shifts and first-day details with candidate, supervisors and the training team.

· Complete new-hire paperwork, set new employees up in company systems, and create and maintain personnel and medical files.

· Retention: Check in with new hires at 30, 60 and 90 days; conduct stay interviews, exit interviews and employee surveys; and share findings and improvement ideas with leadership.

· Partner with HR and managers on engagement and retention, and be a visible, approachable presence on the floor across shifts.

· Reporting & compliance: Track and report hiring results, including open positions, time to fill, source of hire, offer acceptance and 90-day retention.

· Follow employment laws and company policy at every step of hiring, including EEO, I-9 and Illinois pay transparency requirements.

· Manage relationships with job boards, staffing agencies and outside vendors.

· Perform other duties as assigned.
