Job Description:

The Referral Specialist is responsible to execute patient referrals as indicated by physicians, seek authorization as required by individual insurances and notify patients. Join Our Team as a Referral Coordinator!

Posting Specifics

  • Shift Details: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
  • Location: This is an on-site position at our new Northglenn Clinic located at 11900 Grant Street, Northglenn, CO 80233

Scope

  • 1.Obtains referral request from physician.
  • 2. Ensures patients have been cleared for specialty service office visits. Resolves pre- certification, registration and case-related concerns prior to a patient's appointment. Verifies insurance coverage or lack thereof for patient. Obtains authorizations if needed from insurance coverage.
  • 3. Gathers pertinent information from insurance carriers, financial counselors, and other ancillary staff to make certain the patient's financial obligations for services provided.
  • 4. Completes referral paperwork, including copies, and fax to medical office.
  • 5. Contacts patient regarding referral information and give name, location, telephone number of specialist.
  • 6. Returns referral to physician for signature of completion.
  • 7. Acts as a liaison between hospitals, physicians, health plans, vendors, and patients, or other referral sources.
  • 8. Covers PSR position as needed.
  • 9. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
  • 10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • One (1) year front office or revenue cycle experience in a health care organization is required

  • 6. Proficient computer skills.
  • 7. A team player who handles multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
  • 8. Contributes to a positive work environment that is supportive of PSR associates, other colleagues, and patients needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
  • Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment.
  • Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
