Help protect the U.S. homeland. You’ll join a team of Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) professionals who identify, integrate, and assess technologies for the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense as a core member of Amentum’s Center of Excellence for Counter Unmanned Systems (C-UxS)

As a Research Analyst, you will turn all-source C-UxS information into analytical products that directly shape DHS and DoD technology acquisition and the development of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). You’ll work with Amentum, government, vendors, subject matter experts, and other industry partners. Your findings will reach senior decision makers.

What You’ll Do

Analysis and Threat Assessment

  • Analyze structured and unstructured UxS movement data, geospatial sensor information, and supplementary intelligence sources to develop actionable analytical products.
  • Brief key decision-makers on UxS movement trends, entities, areas of interest, and evolving threat patterns through reports, presentations, and research projects.
  • Conduct predictive and anticipatory analysis to identify emerging UxS threats, forecast potential operational activities, and assess likely changes in adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Identify patterns, anomalies, and indicators of potential future UxS activity by integrating historical movement data, geospatial information, environmental conditions, and other relevant intelligence sources.
  • Develop threat forecasts and risk assessments that identify potential vulnerabilities, emerging operational challenges, and areas requiring enhanced surveillance, detection, or mitigation capabilities.
  • Apply trend analysis, pattern-of-life assessments, and temporal and geospatial modeling to anticipate changes in UxS employment, operating environments, and threat behavior.

Predictive Analytics and Operational Decision Support

  • Develop and apply predictive analytical models, statistical forecasting techniques, and AI-enabled analytical tools to assess potential UxS activities, operational trends, and emerging threats.
  • Conduct anticipatory assessments that evaluate plausible future threat scenarios, identify early warning indicators, and provide decision-makers with actionable recommendations.
  • Establish and monitor indicators and warnings (I&W) to support early identification of emerging UxS threats, evolving capabilities, and changes in operational activity.
  • Perform scenario-based analysis and forecasting to evaluate potential threat developments, operational vulnerabilities, and C-UxS capability requirements.
  • Translate predictive assessments into operational recommendations that support proactive resource allocation, sensor placement, technology acquisition, and TTP development.
  • Evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and operational utility of predictive models through historical validation, performance metrics, and continuous analytical refinement.

Technology Assessment and Capability Development

  • Partner with government and industry stakeholders to define research objectives, data collection methodologies, analytical requirements, and reporting standards.
  • Transform analytical findings into actionable recommendations that guide C-UxS technology development, acquisition, selection, and operational employment.
  • Develop and manage multi-phase technology implementation roadmaps across business units, translating functional requirements into actionable system configurations.
  • Perform due diligence on emerging AI, machine learning, and other advanced technologies that can enhance C-UxS detection, tracking, classification, and analytical capabilities.
  • Identify anticipated capability gaps by evaluating projected threat evolution against existing and planned C-UxS technologies, operational concepts, and system performance.
  • Support technology investment and acquisition decisions by forecasting future operational requirements and assessing the effectiveness of potential C-UxS solutions against emerging threats.

Research, Modeling, and Program Support

  • Apply operations research, systems analysis, statistical modeling, and quantitative methodologies to complex operational and technical challenges.
  • Support business process improvement initiatives, including performance management, statistical process control, organizational assessment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct modeling and simulation, strategic planning, operational analysis, and decision support to advance program objectives.
  • Develop analytical scenarios and simulations to assess potential UxS threat evolution, operational impacts, and the effectiveness of proposed countermeasures.
  • Assist with program planning and oversight, exercise development and execution, and program evaluation.
  • Support system-level analysis and integration activities, including assessments of emerging threats, system vulnerabilities, and operational effectiveness.
  • Provide technical assessment and evaluation support that complements government technical experts in applying acquisition initiatives and research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) activities to DHS mission requirements.

Leadership, Collaboration, and Compliance

  • Communicate complex analytical findings, predictive assessments, and operational recommendations to senior government and industry leadership.
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and restrictions governing information collection, intelligence analysis, and law enforcement activities within the United States.
  • Supervise analytical and technical staff as assigned.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have an active Secret US Government clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Ability to pass DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) requirements and maintain Public Trust suitability
  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of all-source intelligence analysis and production that includes DHS and/or DoD experience.
  • Experience with commercial or government GIS tools (ArcGIS or similar) and with OSINT and other data sources across the intelligence cycle
  • Track record of producing high-quality deliverables for senior policymakers, including complex written products and formal or informal briefings, independently or as part of a team
  • Strong research, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to anticipate customer needs
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance and active Public Trust designation
  • Knowledge of C-UxS methods, industry leaders, and U.S. Government authorities
  • Understanding of sUAS threats and the electronic and communications systems, components, and materials relevant to DHS missions
  • Familiarity with DHS, DoD, or other law enforcement C-UxS efforts over the past five years
  • Experience with DHS GII, Aerial Armor, Hidden Level, or similar UAS detection and monitoring services
