The Centre for Sustainable Finance Innovation (CSFI) is a research centre at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University, dedicated to advancing research and practical knowledge in sustainable finance and financial innovation. The Centre conducts research on areas including climate finance, carbon markets, sustainable investment, and related policy issues.

We are looking for a Research Fellow to support research on how carbon pricing and climate policies shape firms’ decisions and global supply chain networks. The role will focus on empirical research, large-scale data analysis, econometric modelling, and the development of high-quality academic research on carbon pricing, global supply chains, and sustainable business transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct empirical research on how carbon pricing and climate policies affect firms’ sourcing decisions, supplier relationships, and global supply chain networks.
  • Construct and manage large-scale datasets by integrating firm-level, supply-chain, country-level policy, climate, and financial information from multiple sources.
  • Develop and implement econometric models to examine the effects of carbon pricing on supply chain restructuring, firm performance, and sustainable transformation.
  • Perform data management, statistical analyses, robustness tests, and preparation of research outputs, including tables, figures, and visualizations.
  • Work effectively with the Principal Investigator, project team members, and other local and international collaborators on research activities.
  • Contribute to the development of research papers, conference presentations, and other academic outputs arising from the project.
  • Support the writing, revision, and publication of research findings in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, statistics, data science, or a closely related field.
  • Strong training in empirical research methods and econometric analysis, with experience working with large-scale firm-level or related datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Stata for data management, statistical analysis, and empirical research.
  • Experience in merging and managing large datasets from multiple sources, preferably involving firm, supply chain, financial, policy, or international data.
  • Familiarity with research topics related to sustainable finance, climate policy, carbon pricing, corporate finance, or global supply chains would be an advantage.
  • Prior experience in preparing research papers for peer-reviewed journals in finance, economics, accounting, management, or related fields is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the Principal Investigator and research team, with strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
