Research Technician - Monaghan Lab

About the Opportunity

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Research Technician to join the Monaghan Laboratory in the Department of Biology at Northeastern University. The successful candidate will contribute to a project to clear and image fixed tissues using multiplexed staining and lightsheet microscopy. They will work directly with the Principal Investigator (PI) and a postdoctoral researcher to optimize protocols and collect data toward a publication. The technician will also help keep the lab running by maintaining stocks and assisting with ordering. The role may include guiding undergraduate volunteers as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• •Carry out tissue clearing, multiplexed staining, and lightsheet imaging of fixed tissues, including optimizing protocols in collaboration with the PI and postdoctoral researcher
• •Collect, organize, and help analyze imaging datasets to support a planned publication
• •Maintain lab stocks and organization, and assist with ordering supplies
• •Help guide undergraduate volunteers in the lab as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Required

• •Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, bioengineering, or a related field
• •Laboratory experience handling tissues and tissue imaging, either in sections or whole mount
• •Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Preferred

Some computational skills for working with large datasets (a plus, but not essential)

Expected Hiring Range:

$20.77 - $28.56
