Description

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) is seeking a military veteran to serve as Resident Liaison for Hero’s Hill, a community of 20 tiny homes providing housing for veterans who have experienced homelessness, offering a place to call home and connect with fellow veterans.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with others, building relationships, and helping create a welcoming community for fellow veterans.

The Resident Liaison must reside full-time in a designated tiny home at Hero’s Hill and provide a regular, approachable presence for residents who want to ask questions, share concerns, or simply connect.

Responsibilities

  • Spend a minimum of 10 hours per week visibly engaged with residents at Hero’s Hill.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with residents.
  • Serve as an accessible point of contact for questions and concerns, referring matters to appropriate KCDC staff as needed.
  • Communicate resident feedback and concerns to KCDC staff.
  • Participate in an additional one-hour staff meeting each week with members of KCDC’s staff.

Schedule and Residency:

This position requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, including resident engagement and the weekly staff meeting. There are no fixed working hours beyond the scheduled staff meeting, allowing flexibility in meeting the position’s responsibilities.

The selected individual may maintain full-time employment elsewhere while fulfilling the weekly commitment and full-time residency requirement.

Compensation and Housing:

This is a non-salaried position. In lieu of salary, the Resident Liaison will receive a monthly stipend equivalent to the monthly rental amount for the designated tiny home at Hero’s Hill. Utilities are not included and are the responsibility of the selected individual.

Full-time residency in the designated tiny home is a requirement of the position. The Resident Liaison will have an opportunity to review the residential lease agreement and discuss the details of the position during the interview and selection process.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must be a military veteran of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Must be willing and able to reside full-time at Hero’s Hill. Extended time off or multiple consecutive nights away from the property should be reasonable and communicated to KCDC management.
  • Must be able to meet the weekly resident engagement and staff meeting requirements, other than routine or pre-approved time away.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An approachable, dependable, and respectful manner.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and handle resident concerns with discretion.

Help build a connected community where fellow veterans feel welcome, heard, and supported.
