Description

The Residential Youth Program Coordinator (RYPC) supports the daily operations of the Fresno Mission’s Youth Services residential program, providing Christ-centered leadership, mentorship, and support to youth participants. This role is dedicated to helping young people navigate life challenges, build healthy relationships, develop life skills, and make meaningful progress toward personal growth and stability. A key responsibility of the RYPC is to develop, equip, and support staff in effectively engaging with youth. This includes training team members in mentorship strategies, goal setting, relationship building, and trauma-informed approaches that foster positive outcomes. The RYPC ensures staff are prepared to help youth establish realistic and attainable goals, provide ongoing encouragement and accountability, and maintain consistent follow-through to support each participant’s progress. The RYPC models best practices in youth engagement, mentorship, and discipleship while creating a culture of accountability, respect, and personal responsibility. This role requires the ability to have difficult yet compassionate conversations with youth and staff when addressing behavioral concerns, unmet expectations, poor decision-making, or barriers to progress. The RYPC provides constructive feedback, challenges individuals to take ownership of their actions, and helps them identify practical steps toward positive change and growth. Through strong leadership, and coaching, the coordinator promotes safe, and a supportive environment where youth are encouraged, held accountable, and equipped to achieve their goals while growing in their faith and character.

Who you are:

  • Someone who recognizes the value and dignity of every person, regardless of their background, circumstances, or choices
  • Passionate about mentoring youth and helping them navigate challenges and achieve personal growth.
  • Attentive and approachable, with a listening ear and a genuine commitment to investing in youth and staff.
  • Dependable, organized, and trustworthy when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Emotionally mature, grounded in biblical truth, and resilient under pressure.
  • A compassionate leader who balances grace with accountability and is willing to have difficult conversations when necessary.
  • Skilled at building healthy relationships while maintaining clear expectations and boundaries.
  • A team player who equips, coaches, and develops staff to effectively engage, mentor, and support youth.
  • Committed to helping staff consistently guide youth in setting and achieving realistic, attainable goals.
  • Patient and persistent, understanding the meaningful change takes time, encouragement, accountability, and follow-through.

What you’ll do (just the basics):

  • Oversee the daily operations of the residential program.
  • Identify operational concerns and opportunities for improvement and communicate them to the Director of Youth Services.
  • Meet regularly with staff to review goals, progress and challenges
  • Coach and support staff in effective youth engagement and mentorship
  • Hold youth and staff accountable through clear communication and constructive feedback
  • Address conflicts, behavioral concerns, and barriers to progress with compassionate but direct conversations.
  • Monitor the residential environment to ensure it remains safe, clean, structured and supportive.
  • Lead or participate in daily devotionals, prayer, and spiritual growth activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and program records.
  • Maintain a small case load if necessary.
  • Foster a safe, structured, and supportive environment that promotes personal responsibility, life skills and spiritual development.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and ensure significant incidents are documented and escalated when necessary.

  • Equivalent combination of education, ministry experience, and youth development experience may be considered.
  • 3 years of experience working with youth, young adults, vulnerable populations, or related human services preferred.
  • Experience with conflict resolution, accountability, and trauma informed care.

Requirements:

A mature walk with Jesus Christ and able to articulate Biblical beliefs and their application within the context of the Fresno Mission. All employees of Fresno Mission are an integral part of the outreach ministry of a non-denominational, evangelical ministry sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through transformational programs that provide food, shelter, clothing, education, job training and renewal of families to the poor and addicted. All employees are Christian missionaries and are required from time to time to participate in chapel services, outreach ministries, Bible studies and prayer times. Due to the nature of these types of ministries, it is an absolute necessity that each employee possesses and maintain a Christian testimony of their faith and experience in Jesus. Must be in agreement with the Statement of Faith of the Fresno Mission.
