the posting
- Millions of Selling Partners trust Amazon's marketplace to grow their businesses, and hundreds of millions of customers depend on us every day. Behind that trust is a network of systems, tools, and workflows designed to detect and resolve fraud and abuse at scale — and our team builds them.
- We are looking for a Risk Manager II who will drive end-to-end program execution for risk reduction initiatives across TSI SCI and Res-Q. In this role, you will own cross-functional program delivery — building roadmaps, aligning stakeholders, managing dependencies, and driving process automation to eliminate defects and improve operational efficiency at scale.
- You will partner with engineering, science, operations, legal, and policy teams to define program scope, manage trade-offs, and deliver measurable outcomes. You'll own root cause and preventive action (RC/PA) for systemic defects, drive process automation initiatives that reduce manual investigation effort, and ensure programs are delivered on time, at quality, and with measurable impact.
- This role offers the opportunity to shape how Amazon protects seller and customer trust by combining structured program management with process automation expertise that fundamentally improves how our organization operates.
- Key job responsibilities
- Own end-to-end program management for risk reduction initiatives — defining scope, building roadmaps, tracking milestones, managing dependencies, and driving delivery across engineering, science, operations, legal, and policy teams.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across Risk Managers, Operations, Science, Legal, and Policy stakeholders to define program scope, prioritize features, and manage trade-offs — with defect elimination and operational efficiency as the primary lens.
- Identify, design, and implement process automation opportunities that reduce manual investigation effort, eliminate repetitive workflows, and improve investigator productivity — partnering with engineering teams to translate operational pain points into automation solutions.
- Own root cause / preventive action (RC/PA) for systemic defects — when defect pattern analysis reveals recurring failure modes, document root cause findings, define preventive actions with measurable closure criteria, and track implementation through to validated defect elimination.
- Build and manage program roadmaps for automation and process improvement launches, tracking dependencies, identifying risks, and driving escalation management across multi-team initiatives.
- Conduct defect pattern analysis to identify systemic abuse trends, process gaps, and opportunities for automation coverage expansion — translating findings into prioritized program requirements.
- Lead escalation triage for program-impacted workflows — rapidly diagnosing whether issues stem from process gaps, system failures, or policy misalignment, and routing to the appropriate team with clear severity assessment and remediation path.
- Define and instrument success metrics to measure program impact, automation coverage, defect escape rates, process cycle time reduction, and seller experience improvement.
- Drive process improvement initiatives using structured methodologies (DMAIC, Kaizen, or equivalent) mapping current-state workflows, identifying waste and bottlenecks, and implementing scalable solutions.
- Manage stakeholder communication and program governance - preparing and presenting program updates, launch readiness reviews, and impact assessments to senior leadership, quantifying the value of risk reduction investments.
- Own change management for new process launches and automation deployments — ensuring smooth adoption across operations teams through documentation, training, and feedback loops.
- Conduct deep dives into escalation data, process metrics, and system gaps to identify launch blockers and ensure seamless program implementation.
- A day in the life
- You'll start your day reviewing program dashboards and defect metrics — checking milestone progress, flagging blockers, and identifying where process automation can reduce manual effort. You'll meet with investigators and Risk Managers to understand which workflows are creating friction and translate those insights into program requirements.
- You'll drive sprint planning and stakeholder alignment meetings — prioritizing initiatives by defect elimination impact and operational efficiency gains. You'll analyze escalation data to spot systemic issues that process automation should solve, and work with operations leaders to validate that deployed solutions are actually reducing investigation workload.
- Your week includes cross-functional program reviews with Science, Legal, Operations and Policy, launch readiness assessments, RC/PA deep dives on systemic defects, process mapping workshops for automation opportunities, and presenting program progress at WBRs and MBRs.
- About the team
- The Res-Q team operates as the central command for abuse-related escalations, conducting investigations and driving systemic improvements across Amazon's global stores. Through our various intake channels, we handle the most complex and sensitive cases that require expert judgment and cross-functional coordination.
Basic qualifications
- - Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- - 5+ years of program or project management experience
- - 2+ years of experience in risk management, trust & safety, fraud prevention, or marketplace integrity domains
- - Experience driving process automation or process improvement initiatives that delivered measurable operational efficiency gains
- - Experience managing programs across technical and non-technical teams with competing priorities
- - Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision making
- - Experience with defect analysis, root cause investigation, and structured problem-solving methodologies
- - Experience writing program requirements, process documentation, and stakeholder communications
- - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent programs with interdependencies
Preferred qualifications
- - Experience with process automation tools, workflow orchestration, or RPA (Robotic Process Automation) platforms
- - Experience defining and tracking program metrics, and driving data-informed prioritization
- - Experience launching automation solutions that directly reduced operational defect rates or manual investigation workload
- - Strong written and verbal communication skills to influence technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- - Familiarity with agile development methodologies and sprint-based delivery
- - Experience with change management and driving adoption of new processes/tools across operations teams
