About Us - ICU Step-Down Unit (TCU)

The ICU Step-Down Unit is a 20-bed department consisting of multidisciplinary team of nurses, nurse technicians, and ancillary staff.

TCU serves Freeman and our community through caring for patients that are transitioning from ICU to Med-Surge level of care.

We serve a vast range of patient populations, from cardiac complications, respiratory distress, diabetes management, and many more.

• What You’ll Do
• In conjunction with the medical plan of care, independently performs systematic and continuous assessment of the physical, emotional, clinical, and psychosocial needs of assigned patients and families; plans and implements appropriate interventions; and evaluates effectiveness and adjusts plan as indicated in a timely manner in the provision of safe and effective care.

• Requirements
• 1.AHA ACLS within 120 days.
• 2.AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers within 60 days.
• 3.ASLS - Advanced Stroke Life Support within 180 days.
• 4.CardioVascular Disease CEU hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.
• 5.Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or current Registered Nurse license from a compact state. If a compact license is held, it must be in the nurse’s state of residence.
• 6.If no experience as an RN or LPN in a hospital setting or it has been more than 5 years since last worked in a hospital setting, nurses must successfully pass Patient Care Orientation (PCO) within 30 days.
• 7.NIH Stroke Scale Certification within 90 days.
• 8.Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Program (CPI) within 365 days.
• 9.RN Competency Day annually by transcript due date.
• 10.Stroke CEU Hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.
• 11.Trauma CEU Hours - 8 per year annually by transcript due date.
• 12.Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 365 days.
