Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This is an hourly position in City of Industry, CA that reports to the R&D Manager & coordinates with R&D & Sales Department on products required for sample. Samples are for existing customers, potential new customers, brokers, and/or sales team members. Sampler requests standards products from Inventory/Warehouse; prepares & packs samples for shipment; handles shipment of airfreight orders for standard GFF products. Ensure samples & airfreight order are securely packed, labeled & shipped on time. Sampler maintains organization & cleanliness of Sample Room including 2 refrigerators containing various product samples.

SCOPE OF JOB FUNCTION

  • Manage sample requests as they come in; sample requests are typically from Sr. VP Sales & Marketing, Key Account Managers and/or the R&D Team.
  • Works closely with R&D Manager & other R&D team members to ensure new product samples are sent to customers as scheduled.
  • Work with inventory personnel to gather standard finished products from the warehouse that are required as per sample requests.
  • Redistributes gallon products, that are commonly requested samples, into smaller portions including 6 oz, 16 oz, & half gallon jars & maintains these sample sizes in inventory to be readily available.
  • Pack samples into appropriate packaging with cold packs to help maintain cold chain temperature during shipment.
  • Pack airfreight orders of regular products; ensure all packages are labelled correctly & shipping documents are in order.
  • Create shipping labels & place on each package per shipping request.
  • Ensure samples & airfreight orders are securely packed to prevent leakage during shipment.
  • Ensure packages are picked up by the appropriate shipping company – Fed Ex or UPS.
  • Maintain & keep track of inventory of packaging needed for samples including Styrofoam cases, ice packs, bubble wrap, 16oz jars, cardboard boxes, & packaging paper. Submit order for replenishment as needed.
  • Maintain an organized system of keeping bulk samples for future use & ensure all samples provided are within shelf-life.
  • Maintain regular clean-up & organization of the Sample refrigerators & disposes expired product as appropriate.
  • Maintain Sample Room orderliness & cleanliness on a daily basis.
  • Maintain log of sampled material for proper inventory management.
  • Participate in work areas inspection to detect unsafe conditions.
  • Prepare samples for Sales Trade Shows.
  • R&D assistance as needed including but not limited to sample mixing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3 years’ minimum related experience in a food processing or laboratory is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate and detail reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members and collaborate across departments.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to respond to emails promptly and professionally and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with the Sales Team regarding customer requests, product information, samples, specifications, and related activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English; bilingual English/ Spanish preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
