School Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Stepping Stones Group (sister company of Kinetic) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a contracted, school-based placement in Danbury, NC for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a full-time position supporting a local K–12 district with private-duty/1:1 nursing services.

Working with The Stepping Stones Group provides consistent pay, clinical support from experienced nurses, and support from a team specializing in school-based nursing.

Minimum Requirements

Active RN license valid in North Carolina

Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program

Current BLS CPR/AED certification

Demonstrated competency in the specific skills required for the assigned student, including:

Tube feedings and management

Oxygen and airway management

Medication administration

Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills

Ability to work independently in a non-clinical environment

Experience working with the pediatric population

Additional Requirements

Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations

Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, families, therapists, and healthcare providers

Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation

Prior school-based experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

Maintain continuous observation of the assigned student throughout the school day

Implement and monitor student health plans

Accompany the student during transportation and community-based activities when assigned

Communicate significant changes in the student's status to family, school staff, and clinical leadership

Provide first aid, daily medical care, and emergency support

Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA requirements
