Amazon Healthcare Security's (HealthSec) Security Operations team is hiring a Security Engineer to be the first line of defense to our most critical customer data. You will be a guardian of healthcare information and work with Amazon Healthcare products to secure customer data. You will drive cross-team coordination, detection and monitoring management, and incident response for all of our medical related services. You will communicate and work with executives, Legal, and other key business and technical leaders to drive resolution of issues.

You will get to work closely with our detection and monitoring organizations to define new ways to detect activities that may impact our customers and their health records. You will also get to work with other Security engineers from across HealthSec to drive new solutions into our systems to help secure data at a design and implementation level.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Evaluate vulnerability reports, security alerts, and customer issues

Work alongside our Detection and Monitoring team to triage, understand, and improve security alerts

Perform risk assessments and identify security vulnerabilities in workflows

​​Advise engineering teams and stakeholders on security best practices including network security, identity management, and secure system configurations​

Collaborate with product development teams to integrate security solutions and controls

Support security incident investigations related to infrastructure

​​Participate in an on-call rotation and provide ad hoc support to customers during non-business hours​

Drive security automation efforts including monitoring, triage, and alerting for key security risks

Basic qualifications

  • - 2+ years of programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object oriented language experience
  • - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • - Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
  • - Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques or equivalent

Preferred qualifications

  • - 2+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
  • - Experience with AWS products and services
  • - Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++
  • - Experience or understanding of HIPAA regulations

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
