Summary
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (TRAINING SPECIALIST), Position Description Number D2161000 and is part of the HI 154 SFS, National Guard. LOCATION: 154th Security Forces Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii
Duties
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the subject matter expert in managing the SF Squadron program to include Air Expeditionary Force (AEF) deployments, formal training programs, and readiness and emergency management. Provides guidance and recommendations to the squadron commander on all aspects of SF programs for military personnel management, budget and management analysis, training, and training resources for drill-status personnel. Reviews all operations, mobility, contingency, and exercise plans to ensure combat readiness for the SF Squadron. Responsible for proper security, classification, and storage of classified documents. Oversees the coordination, review, and implementation of SF manning authorizations and military personnel assignments. Serves as the SF commander's key staff member responsible for the overall management of the unit-training program by overseeing the planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluating all unit training related items. Serves as the subject matter expert and consultant to the unit commander on all matters pertaining to the availability and management of the SF training program to meet the needs of the organization and mission. Develops, administers, and oversees the management of the unit's training programs to supervisors. Directs the certification testing (CERTEST) program. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Ensure that the Questionnaire is completed on Application Manager. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of experience equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. MILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION: Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. *4. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. 5. You are responsible to maintain awareness of your environmental responsibilities as dictated by legal and regulatory requirements, your organization, and its changing mission. NOTES TO CANDIDATES: a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor. b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses may be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard. c. In addition to your application, documents of last performance appraisal, past civilian performance, letter of recommendations, and or military performance may be submitted. d. Candidates may be screened and evaluated on military attributes directly related to the compatible military position required to be assigned into, such as, but not limited to, military bearing, leadership, or ability to work with others (teamwork) in a military environment. e. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). f. Final selection will be based upon qualifications, suitability, and available manpower resources. g. This employer will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. h. Candidates above the grade of E-7 must include in their application the willingness to take a voluntary downgrade in order to be considered. k. Eligibles on this list will be given automatic consideration for position vacancies occurring during the six months period following the close of this announcement. l. Cost of living allowances (COLA) vary from island to island. COLA is subject to change without notice. m. Current T32 Technicians who have permanent tenure will occupy this position as a Temporary Promotion Year to Year not to exceed 5 years. Temporary promotion may be converted to a Permanent Promotion without further competition if the position becomes available. Selectee may return to his/her former graded position when the Temporary Promotion is no longer needed and may be effected at any time without adverse action procedures. n. T5 Employees with permanent tenure will lose their permanent status if selected and will be converted to 32 Indefinite. If selected Indefinite tenure appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice. In
