As Senior Accountant , you will be accountable for the ongoing delivery and execution of four core process areas, transitioned from Marqeta’s subsidiary, TransactPay. These areas comprise banking journal entries, account reconciliations, SOX control execution , and customer invoicing/billing. You’ll have a dual mandate

In Phase 1 you will provide maternity cover for a member of the TransactPay team where you will be trained to carry out some of the existing manual core processes, in parallel with the automation transition plan. During this phase, as well as executing the assigned processes, you will take your learnings and understanding of the manual processes to assist the Finance Manager as they deliver the transition stage through building scalable and structured automated solutions that allow the processes to be absorbed and stabilized.

In Phase 2 you’ll run the steady state for the newly automated processes. You will be accountable for the accurate, timely, and controlled execution of each newly automated process area within agreed service levels. You will operate a reliable, audit-ready control environment with a bias toward standardization and continuous improvement.

As an integral part of the TransactPay Finance team, you’ll work very closely with colleagues in Gibraltar and Malta to maintain accurate financial records in our regulated businesses, in accordance with IFRS and other local accounting standards, and also with the Marqeta US Controller to ensure alignment with the group consolidation and close cycle, and adherence to the ICFR/SOX framework.

This role can be performed in a hybrid work model (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday onsite) from our Warsaw office. We’d love for you to join us!

Assist in the monthly revenue invoice cycle, including the roll forward of the invoice template, updating the project log and preparing the ‘non-scheme’ invoices.

Compiling monthly FX using Netsuite rates.

Assume responsibility for various balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that they are prepared, reviewed and then certified by the appropriate TransactPay individual on schedule. Assigned categories to include:

Several bank accounts including multiple currencies

Program Manager Prefund reconciliations

Program Manager Prefund Revenue reconciliations

Program Manager Prefund Interchange reconciliations

Network Liabilities reconciliations

Transition and stabilization

Assist the Finance Manager with the knowledge transfer and migration of the above four core processes from TransactPay.

Identify standardization and automation opportunities and assist the Finance Manager in making continuous improvement once processes stabilize.

Phase 2: Automated process execution

Account reconciliations

Carry out the balance sheet reconciliation process for the transitioned entities in respect of agreed categories of accounts including bank, prefund liabilities, settlement liabilities and other GL accounts (subject to expansion of scope).

Ensure the reconciliations in scope are prepared and reviewed, then certified by the appropriate TransactPay individual on schedule (e.g. in the reconciliation tool) with reconciling items appropriately aged, substantiated, and cleared.

Highlight any aged or high-risk reconciling items to the Finance Manager and support with driving them to resolution with the relevant process and entity owners.

Maintain reconciliation standards, thresholds, and review evidence to withstand internal and external audit.

Customer invoicing/billing

Execute the customer invoicing and billing for TransactPay, delivering accurate and timely billing runs utilizing newly automated processes, including invoice issuance and supporting documentation.

Reconcile billed amounts to underlying data and agreements, and coordinate with commercial/operations teams on billing inputs, adjustments and credits.

Own resolution of billing queries and disputes, and support accounts-receivable follow-up and revenue-related close activities.

Ensure billing outputs comply with local tax/VAT and invoicing requirements for the relevant European jurisdictions.

Ensure controls are performed as designed and that any exceptions or breakdowns are logged, escalated and remediated.

Partner with Internal Audit, external auditors, and the SOX/controls team on walkthroughs, testing and requests, and act as control owner/performer of record where assigned.
