Silgan Containers is looking for a Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets.

Role Overview

The Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets, is responsible for accounting and control activities related to the company’s fixed assets and capital projects, while also providing accounting support for Health and Welfare and other corporate accounts. The position supports accurate financial records through capital job accounting, asset transfers and disposals, physical inventories, account reconciliations, journal entries, budgeting, and compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.

What You Will Do

• •Prepare journal entries for fixed asset activity, including recording asset additions, transferring assets between plants, disposing of assets, and recording monthly depreciation.
• •Support compliance with the company’s capitalization requirements and fixed asset policies, helping ensure capital expenditures are properly classified and recorded promptly.
• •Partner cross-functionally with plant personnel, Project Engineering, Tax, and Accounting departments to maintain accurate asset information.
• •Maintain monthly and year-to-date fixed asset roll-forward reports.
• •Monitor compliance with the company’s internal policy regarding fixed asset physical inventories performed at plant locations.
• •Support Fixed Asset and Health and Welfare accounting activities, including but not limited to:
• •Weekly claims and related journal entries.
• •Support annual budget preparation.
• •Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, reconciliations, and other requested information.

What We’re Looking For

• •BA or BS in Accounting required with 4+ years of accounting experience.
• •Corporate accounting experience, preferably involving fixed assets, capital projects, account reconciliations, or related accounting activities.
• •Strong knowledge of GAAP and capitalization and depreciation principles.
• •Strong Excel and reconciliation skills with excellent attention to detail.
• •Ability to interact effectively with plant personnel, Project Engineering, Benefits, Accounting, and various levels of management.
• •Strong organizational, follow-up, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• •Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members.
• •ERP such as JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE) experience is a plus.
