The Position

Senior Analyst (Data Strategy & Acquisition)

Roche India - Roche Services and Solutions

Hyderabad / Chennai

At Roche, you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted, and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop, and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.

That’s what makes us Roche.

As a Senior Data Strategy & Acquisition Analyst within GATE, you will be a recognized subject-matter expert on the U.S. healthcare data landscape. You will go beyond responding to requests — you will proactively scout, evaluate, and unlock new data assets that expand what Roche's U.S. commercial organization can see and act on. You will operate as a genuine thought partner to U.S. brand, market access, forecasting, field operations, and advanced analytics teams across multiple therapeutic areas, shaping decisions on multi-million-dollar data investments.

The Opportunity

  • Multi-Facet Data Asset Portfolio : Own the evaluation, acquisition, and lifecycle management of a broad and diverse portfolio of U.S. healthcare data assets — claims, EHR/EMR and clinical real-world data, specialty pharmacy and hub data, lab and biomarker/genomic testing data, payer and formulary intelligence, sales and distribution, provider reference and affiliation data, patient-level longitudinal data, and competitive/market intelligence.
  • Proactive Data Scouting & Market Sensing: Continuously track the evolving U.S. data vendor and RWD market — new entrants, emerging and innovative asset types, consolidation, and pricing/licensing trends. Bring forward unsolicited recommendations on datasets Roche should consider and on new use cases that existing assets could unlock.
  • Therapeutic Area Partnership: Partner with stakeholders across Oncology, Ophthalmology, Cardiovascular-Renal-Metabolic (CVRM), Neurology, Immunology and Rare Disease, translating each TA's distinct commercial questions into fit-for-purpose data requirements — recognizing that a retina franchise, a solid-tumor biomarker-driven brand, and a cardiometabolic primary-care brand each demand fundamentally different data strategies.
  • Vendor Evaluation & Head-to-Head Benchmarking: Evaluate new and incumbent vendors (eg:-IQVIA, Komodo Health, Clarivate/DRG, MMIT, Optum, Truveta, Flatiron, Verana ), on methodology, capture and coverage, patient/provider linkage, recency and lag, known biases, limitations, and fit-for-purpose. Design and run structured bake-offs and overlap analyses rather than relying on vendor claims
  • External Partnerships: Act as the primary technical counterpart to external data vendors — interrogating source methodologies, resolving data quality queries, influencing roadmap and enhancement requests, and supporting renewal and expansion discussions with an evidence-backed point of view
  • Data Profiling & Risk Assessment : Perform hands-on profiling, cross-source comparison, and validation. Quantify gaps, challenge assumptions, and provide constructive pushback to ensure alignment with business objectives and realistic expectations of what the data can and cannot support.

Who You Are

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Bioinformatics, Public Health, Healthcare, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience: 5–8+ years of relevant experience in pharma/biotech commercial analytics, healthcare data strategy, life sciences consulting, or a healthcare data vendor. Prior experience in a Data acquisition, Data strategy, Data governance, or RWD-evaluation function is strongly preferred.

Multi-Facet Data Asset Exposure (core requirement): You have worked hands-on across several of the following and can speak credibly to the strengths, biases, and limitations of each:

  • Claims: open vs. closed, medical vs. pharmacy, submits vs. remits, switch/clearinghouse vs. payer-sourced (IQVIA LAAD/Dx/PharMetrics, Komodo, Clarivate), patient-lives coverage, payer mix, rejection/denial and reversal analytics
  • EHR/EMR and clinical RWD : structured vs. unstructured content, clinical depth (stage, biomarkers, labs, performance status, laterality), health-system coverage bias, ambulatory vs. inpatient capture, and the NPI/provider-identifier limitations of EHR sources
  • Data Linkage: tokenization and patient-level linkage across claims, EHR, lab, and specialty pharmacy assets (e.g., Datavant), and the practical pitfalls of doing so
  • Specialty pharmacy, hub, and distribution data; buy-and-bill dynamics
  • Lab, diagnostic, and biomarker/genomic testing data
  • Payer, formulary, and market access intelligence (MMIT, DRG Fingertip, Policy Reporter), including coverage policy, utilization management, and GTN-relevant inputs
  • Provider reference and affiliation data (NPI/DEA, IQVIA OneKey, IDN/GPO and health-system hierarchies), and how it powers HCP/account targeting
  • Competitive and market intelligence (Evaluate, Citeline, Spherix Global Insights, Dedham Group)
  • Emerging/innovative assets: ambient and digital health data, registries, SDOH, imaging, patient-reported and adherence data

Therapeutic Area Exposure: Demonstrated exposure to either of Oncology (solid tumor and/or heme; biomarker testing, staging, lines of therapy, pathways), Ophthalmology (Imaging and registry data such as IRIS/Verana), or CVRM (cardiovascular, metabolic and obesity, lab-value-driven segmentation such as HbA1c/LDL/eGFR, high-volume PCP targeting). Rare disease, neurology, or immunology exposure is a strong plus.

Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical reasoning and structured problem-solving with meticulous attention to detail. You engage stakeholders consultatively, ask the sharp clarifying question before proposing a solution, and synthesize complexity into clear recommendations and "so what?" insights

Technical Skills : Proficient in SQL or similar technology for independent extraction, profiling, and validation on large patient-level datasets. Comfortable in creating a visualizations in any industry wide known platforms.
