WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

CNB (City National Bank), an RBC company, is modernizing its data architecture as a core part of our digital transformation strategy. We're seeking a Senior Data Engineer to architect and build scalable, cloud-native ETL/ELT pipelines that power our enterprise data ecosystem. In this critical role, you will design end-to-end data solutions leveraging Informatica (PowerCenter/IDMC) and Snowflake, while driving our data modernization initiatives forward. You will blend traditional enterprise data warehousing concepts with modern cloud technologies, specifically leveraging Informatica (PowerCenter/IDMC) and Snowflake, while using Python for advanced scripting, customization, and automation using frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, or Flask, and proficiency in Unix/Linux scripting.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• •Design, build, and maintain robust batch and near-real-time ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from diverse enterprise sources (APIs, databases, third-party systems) into Snowflake
• •Build and optimize complex data mappings, task flows, and transformations using Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS/IDMC) or PowerCenter
• •Manage and tune Snowflake environments, including workload management, query optimization, virtual warehouse sizing, and cost optimization
• •Develop custom Python components, reusable frameworks, and PySpark scripts for advanced processing and data validation
• •Implement dimensional data models, star/snowflake schemas, and Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 1 & Type 2) to support analytics requirements
• •Establish and maintain automated CI/CD deployment pipelines (Git-based) for database schemas, Python code, and Informatica assets
• •Design and implement automated data quality checks, reconciliation processes, audit controls, and end-to-end data lineage
• •Partner with architecture, business intelligence, and data science teams to translate complex requirements into scalable technical solutions; mentor junior engineers on best practices

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must Have:

• •7–10+ years of professional experience in data engineering, ETL development, and enterprise data warehousing
• •5+ years of hands-on development using Informatica PowerCenter or Informatica Cloud (IICS/IDMC)
• •5+ years of deep technical expertise in Snowflake, including SnowSQL, Snowpark (Python), and native cloud loading
• •Advanced proficiency in Python (including libraries like Pandas or PySpark) and expert-level SQL development (stored procedures, analytical functions, performance tuning).
• •Strong familiarity with cloud ecosystems such as AWS (S3, Lambda, Glue) or Microsoft Azure
• •Proven experience with version control systems (Git) and automated deployment tools (Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions).
• •Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions

Nice-to-Have:

• •Official certifications such as Snowflake Certified Core Engineer or Informatica Cloud Data Integration Specialist.
• •Experience with one of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• •Exposure to big data tools (Spark, Kafka, etc.)
• •Understanding of data security and compliance
• •Prior experience preparing and optimizing datasets for machine learning and AI initiatives.
