About the team

Our GenFlex platform helps energy companies connect, control and optimise large-scale flexible energy assets - including battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar, wind and other generation assets .

GenFlex connects physical energy assets with the technology needed to monitor telemetry, control and dispatch assets, optimise their operation and provide reporting back to clients and energy-market participants.

We're looking for a Senior Delivery Manager to join our team in Japan and lead Kraken's delivery and onboarding of grid-scale energy assets, with an initial focus on battery storage projects .

This is not a traditional construction or EPC project-management role. You'll own Kraken's part of the delivery - working across our clients, Engineering, Product and external technical partners to make sure assets are successfully connected to GenFlex and ready for live operation.

What you'll do

You'll be responsible for driving complex GenFlex implementations in Japan from initial discovery through onboarding, integration, go-live and transition into ongoing operations.

You'll:

Lead Kraken's delivery and onboarding of grid-scale battery and other flexible energy assets in Japan.

Own the delivery plan for Kraken's scope, making sure responsibilities, dependencies, milestones and deliverables are clear from the beginning.

Build strong relationships with Japanese clients and act as a trusted delivery partner throughout implementation.

Coordinate across client teams, Kraken Product and Engineering, traders, EPC partners, Procurement and other external stakeholders.

Drive the three key areas of GenFlex onboarding: market, customer and site onboarding .

Work with technical teams to connect physical assets to Kraken, including the integration and deployment of gateways used for real-time communication with battery sites.

Coordinate requirements around telemetry, controls, APIs, data and site connectivity .

Work through technical and delivery issues, bringing the right people together to identify root causes and unblock progress.

Understand external dependencies such as asset construction, commissioning, grid connection and energisation dates, and manage Kraken's delivery around them.

Keep clients and internal teams clearly informed on progress, risks, decisions and changing priorities.

Manage competing requirements and have clear, diplomatic conversations when expectations, timelines or technical constraints need to be challenged.

Support clients through testing, go-live and the transition into stable operations.

Help improve our GenFlex delivery processes, documentation and ways of working as we scale in Japan.

GenFlex implementations can involve many different stakeholders and dependencies. While Kraken doesn't own the client's overall battery construction programme, our Delivery team is responsible for making sure Kraken's technology, integrations and deliverables are ready at the right time .

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who combines strong delivery leadership with technical curiosity and excellent client management .

You'll ideally have:

Significant experience leading complex technology implementations, integrations or technical delivery programmes .

Experience delivering projects within energy, utilities, grid technology, renewable energy, battery storage or another complex infrastructure/technology environment .

Strong end-to-end delivery ownership - you're comfortable getting into the detail rather than only managing projects from a high level.

Experience working directly with enterprise clients and senior stakeholders.

The confidence to challenge requirements, manage expectations and navigate difficult client conversations when needed.

Strong cross-functional leadership skills and experience coordinating multiple internal and external teams.

Good technical understanding and the confidence to work closely with software, hardware and engineering teams.

Experience working with integrations, APIs, data, connected assets or other technically complex systems.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively when requirements or solutions aren't immediately clear.

Fluent / business-level Japanese is essential , as you'll work directly with clients and partners in Japan.

Strong English communication skills, as you'll work extensively with Kraken's global Product, Engineering and Delivery teams.

GenFlex itself operates across asset connectivity and control, real-time events and monitoring, optimisation and reporting. The platform processes very large volumes of telemetry and connects to large assets such as batteries through cloud integrations or physical gateways.

What makes this role different

This isn't a standard SaaS implementation.

You'll be working at the intersection of software, physical energy assets, grid infrastructure and client operations .

One conversation might be with a senior client stakeholder about programme milestones and risks; the next could involve Engineering discussing telemetry from a battery site, gateway connectivity or why an asset isn't responding as expected.

You'll need to be comfortable moving between the big picture and the technical detail - understanding what needs to happen, who needs to be involved and how to keep a complex delivery moving forward.

Our onboarding teams bring together Delivery Managers, site analysts, hardware engineers and test engineers, with projects often spanning months because of dependencies across Engineering, EPC teams, traders, Procurement and grid/market operators.
