Senior DevOps Engineer

Role Summary

You will work in ING’s Open Banking & XS2A area, created to deliver ING’s Open Banking strategy.

Open Banking evolves around Application Programming Interfaces (APIs): a way to easily open-up capabilities and share data. We believe it will help ING to accelerate innovation and collaboration with partners, clients, and platforms to improve customer experiences and create new business models.

About the Team

ING’s Payment and Settlement Services (PSS) aims to further mature, develop and expand ING’s state of the art payments platforms and settlements services. The PSS focusses on delivering payments and settlement services, meeting the expectations of ING’s business lines and beyond, whilst ensuring the basics: safe, secure, compliant, and reliable. The PSS is an independent unit within ING’s COO domain, reporting directly to ING’s Chief Technology Officer.

What You'll Do

• •Design, build and maintain CI/CD solutions that support efficient and reliable software delivery.
• •Develop and improve infrastructure automation, deployment processes and operational workflows.
• •Support and evolve containerized application environments and platform capabilities.
• •Partner with software engineers to improve deployment reliability, observability and platform stability.
• •Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting and operational dashboards to improve system visibility.
• •Contribute to platform security, resilience and operational risk reduction.
• •Investigate and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks and infrastructure-related challenges.
• •Improve system reliability through automation, standardization and engineering best practices.
• •Help define and promote DevOps standards, operational excellence and engineering maturity across the team.
• •Support disaster recovery, backup, availability and service continuity initiatives.
• •Contribute to cloud-native and container-based platform evolution.
• •Mentor colleagues and promote a culture of automation, reliability and continuous improvement.
• •Collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders and platform teams to improve the overall software delivery lifecycle.

Required Skills

We're looking for someone who brings:

• •Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps.
• •Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• •Experience managing workloads on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• •Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and automation through Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• •Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK, or Datadog.
• •Strong understanding of networking, security, high availability, and reliability engineering principles.

Nice to Have

• •Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or FluxCD.
• •Knowledge of Platform Engineering concepts and Internal Developer Platforms.
• •Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio.
• •Familiarity with DevSecOps tooling, vulnerability scanning, and security automation.
• •Relevant cloud, Kubernetes, or DevOps certifications (CKA, AWS, Azure, Terraform).
