About The Role

The IQ Design team is dedicated to creating simple, delightful, and transformative user experiences. We value collaboration across disciplines and we're excited to work with designers who see technology as a tool to help people tackle real-world problems.

As a Senior Digital Product Designer focused on design systems and creative operations, you'll own the design foundation that scales HP IQ across products, platforms, and verticals. You'll define the components, patterns, and tooling that let our team move quickly without sacrificing craft, and you'll partner closely with engineering to ensure our design intent translates faithfully to shipped product across Windows, Android, and beyond.

This is a senior individual contributor role with cross-team influence. You'll shape direction and define how design and engineering work together at HP IQ, as well as contributing to the visual and interaction language that defines our products.

What You Might Do

  • Drive the development and evolution of HP IQ's shared design library and systems infrastructure across products and platforms
  • Define and design product features, user flows, and interaction patterns with clear documentation and rationale
  • Partner closely with software engineering teams to ensure high-quality implementation and execution fidelity across native platforms
  • Build bridges between design and development workflows through tooling, code-connected systems, and scalable component strategies
  • Collaborate with brand and visual design teams to extend and implement HP IQ's visual language across product experiences
  • Contribute design leadership to Verticals and other emerging intelligent systems initiatives
  • Establish scalable processes, documentation standards, and cross-functional design practices that compound team effectiveness as HP IQ grows
  • Mentor designers across the team and elevate the design org's overall systems literacy and craft
  • Advocate for systems thinking, usability, accessibility, and thoughtful interaction design throughout the product development lifecycle

Essential Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience designing, prototyping, and shipping digital products, with demonstrated impact at a senior IC scope
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating shipped digital product experiences, sophisticated systems thinking, and work that has measurably shaped product direction
  • Deep experience building and scaling design systems and component libraries, including tokens, governance, documentation, and the tooling that supports them
  • Experience designing across multiple platforms (Windows, macOS, web) with an understanding of platform-specific interaction conventions and developer handoff requirements
  • Fluency in modern design tools, with deep expertise in Figma (variable systems, advanced component architecture, plugin development)
  • Strong foundation in user-centered design principles, visual design, typography, and interaction design
  • Experience designing for AI-driven experiences, intelligent systems, or next-generation productivity tools
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to articulate design rationale to engineers, executives, and cross-functional partners
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and exploring undefined spaces and able to bring clarity and structure to them

Preferred Skills

  • Strong familiarity with modern mobile, desktop, and web platforms and their interaction patterns
  • Hands-on experience with code-connected design systems and front-end implementation workflows (React, HTML/CSS, modern UI frameworks)
  • Native development familiarity on Windows (WPF, XAML)
  • Deep experience creating high-fidelity prototypes with tools like Origami Studio, SwiftUI, or web technologies
  • Advanced understanding of motion graphics, animation principles, and shader design
  • Experience designing for regulated industries (healthcare, fintech, enterprise) with awareness of accessibility, compliance, and clinical or specialized workflow considerations
  • Hands-on experimentation with AI technologies such as LLMs, Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, or ComfyUI
  • Experience designing conversational or agentic software experiences
  • Track record of mentoring designers or contributing to design leveling, hiring rubrics, or org practices
