Job Description Summary

As Senior Wind Acoustics Engineer, you will join the GE Vernova Wind Acoustics team within the System Simulation organization, focusing on the complex challenges of rotor and system-level noise. You will play a critical role in balancing the demands of high-performance wind turbine power output with stringent acoustic requirements. This position involves driving innovation in blade design, developing advanced aeroacoustic modeling toolchains, and leading experimental validation programs to ensure our technology remains at the forefront of the industry.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert technical support to increase wind turbine power output through advanced blade designs that balance high aerodynamic performance with low acoustic emissions.
  • Execute high-fidelity analytical and computational aeroacoustic and aerodynamic calculations.
  • Spearhead the development of the system-level acoustic toolchain, identifying methods and technical requirements for next-generation modeling capabilities.
  • Serve as the acoustic technical focal point for cross-functional teams, providing direct input into new blade design cycles to ensure acoustic targets are met. Act as a dedicated coach and mentor, fostering the technical growth of team members through hands-on training and knowledge sharing.
  • Perform rigorous assessment of design risks and establish robust processes for system noise assessment and validation steps.
  • Collaborate with the Acoustics Principal Engineer to build and execute a long-term technology roadmap aimed at the continuous reduction of rotor and system-level noise.
  • Build and maintain strategic collaborations with universities, research groups and wind tunnel facilities to foster innovation and remain at the cutting edge of aeroacoustic research.
  • Lead the execution of experimental programs to validate new blade designs and explore emerging aeroacoustic technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Acoustics or a closely related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in aeroacoustics, blade noise modeling, and Computational Aeroacoustics (CAA).

Desired Characteristics:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Acoustics or a closely related field.
  • Advanced skills in MATLAB and Python for data analysis, process automation, and modeling.
  • Demonstrated experience in aerodynamic/aeroacoustic design processes and conducting experimental/wind tunnel testing.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Experience with GE Vernova wind turbine platforms or similar utility-scale wind technology.
  • Proven ability to work within a system simulation environment, connecting blade and component-level noise to total turbine system performance.
  • Experience with managing complex, multi-year R&D projects or academic-industry partnerships.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
