At ASM, our Field Service Engineers are at the forefront of innovation, supporting the advanced deposition equipment that enables the world's leading semiconductor manufacturers to build the next generation of chips.

We are seeking a Senior Engineer, Field Service, to join our team and serve as a trusted technical expert for our customers. In this role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize ASM equipment while building strong customer relationships and ensuring maximum tool performance and uptime.

This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and working in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Installation & Qualification

Install, commission, and qualify ASM semiconductor equipment at customer sites.

Support new product introductions, upgrades, retrofits, and technology transfers.

Perform acceptance testing and verify equipment meets customer and ASM specifications.

Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with ASM procedures.

Maintenance & Technical Support

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities on ASM equipment.

Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, process, vacuum, software, and system-level issues.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and productivity.

Escalate and coordinate technical issues with global support and engineering teams as required.

Customer Partnership

Serve as the primary on-site technical representative for ASM.

Build strong relationships with customer engineering, maintenance, and production teams.

Provide technical guidance and training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.

Deliver exceptional service to support customer production goals and maximize tool availability.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and serviceability.

Support field modifications, engineering experiments, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Document technical findings, service activities, and recommended actions accurately and in a timely manner.

Share best practices and lessons learned across the global service organization.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.

Equivalent military or technical experience will also be considered.

Experience

For senior level, 5+ years of experience supporting semiconductor equipment, industrial automation, or other complex technical systems.

Experience with equipment installation, qualification, maintenance, and troubleshooting in customer-facing environments.

Semiconductor equipment experience is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities across mechanical, electrical, software, and vacuum systems.

Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and procedures.

Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes is preferred.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across global and cross-functional teams.

Additional Requirements

Ability and willingness to travel extensively during the first year for training (up to 70%, to US, Asia or Europe)

Flexibility to support customer schedules, including occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call activities.

Valid driver's license and ability to work in cleanroom environments.
