The successful candidate will combine strong electronics and computer-system troubleshooting skills with excellent customer service, documentation, and instructional abilities. The position may also provide technical direction and mentoring to junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, inspect, operate, maintain, and repair simulation and training systems.
  • Support TADSS equipment such as the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST), Conduct of Fire Trainer (COFT), Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES), and other training systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks and services, readiness inspections, operability testing, fault isolation, and corrective maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair faults involving electronic assemblies, computers, networks, displays, sensors, communications equipment, interfaces, cabling, and peripheral devices.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, system drawings, maintenance procedures, and diagnostic data.
  • Use test equipment and diagnostic tools to isolate failures to the system, subsystem, assembly, or component level.
  • Provide technical support during training exercises, demonstrations, system tests, and operational events.
  • Assist with the development, fabrication, modification, integration, and evaluation of training-support products and systems.
  • Configure and support networked training devices, workstations, servers, and related information systems.
  • Coordinate equipment setup, system checkout, teardown, transportation, and accountability for field events.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance actions, equipment status, parts usage, and unresolved discrepancies.
  • Monitor inoperative equipment and coordinate repairs, replacement parts, warranty support, and technical escalation.
  • Identify recurring failures and contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective-action recommendations.
  • Provide technical instruction through classroom presentations, demonstrations, practical exercises, and hands-on coaching.
  • Observe users operating training systems, identify operational errors, and provide corrective guidance.
  • Prepare status reports, technical findings, operating instructions, and maintenance documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication with customers, operators, engineering teams, program leadership, and other support organizations.
  • Provide technical direction, mentoring, and task coordination for junior technicians when required.
  • Follow applicable safety, cybersecurity, configuration-management, quality, and property-accountability procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five or more years of experience maintaining or supporting electronic, computer-based, simulation, training, or similarly complex technical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronic, electrical, computer, network, and peripheral-equipment faults.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, cable testers, power supplies, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking fundamentals, and system interfaces.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance, fault isolation, component replacement, system testing, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to provide technical instruction and communicate complex information clearly to technical and nontechnical users.
  • Strong customer-service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and effective working relationships with customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or equivalent productivity tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer and training locations.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to satisfy applicable background-screening and installation-access requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with EST, COFT, MILES, or comparable live, virtual, constructive, and gaming systems.
  • Previous Training Support Center operations experience.
  • Familiarity with TS-MATS or related maintenance and equipment-tracking systems.
  • Experience supporting training exercises in range, command-post, classroom, or field environments.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows-based simulation systems.
  • Previous instructor, field-service, or customer-site support experience.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technicians.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, electrical engineering technology, information technology, or a related field.
  • Current or prior U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to work in office, laboratory, warehouse, classroom, range, and outdoor field environments.
  • Ability to lift, carry, install, and remove electronic or simulation equipment in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work around equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel and work at customer-designated locations, including command posts and training areas.
  • Availability for occasional extended hours, weekends, or after-hours support during exercises, deployments, and critical maintenance activities.
