POSITION SUMMARY

Take the next step in your fire protection engineering career. You’ll perform fire protection design and calculations, spend time in the field, and maintain quality assurance documentation. You’ll work with great people, continue to learn and grow, and have a good time doing it.

WHO WE ARE

We’re a people-first organization. We value knowledge and learning. We believe in the power of connection and collaboration and we seek to build relationships that mean something. We employ some of the best and brightest in the industry and we work hard to maintain a culture that our people can be proud of.

WORKING FOR PRIMERA

Our Buildings division is a talented team of experts working together to deliver buildings and systems that perform better. We provide full-service engineering and design services for both new and existing facilities. Ever focused on providing a first-class client experience, our 30-plus-year history includes projects for school, university, healthcare, government, aviation, laboratory, campus, and municipal facilities.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You are an experienced fire protection engineer with a proven ability to deliver high-quality design and lead projects. You have a bachelor’s degree in fire protection, mechanical, or architectural engineering and six to ten years of fire protection design experience.
  • A PE license is strongly preferred (or you are actively working toward licensure if not already obtained).
  • You know buildings deeply. You have advanced knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and loss prevention practices, and you apply that knowledge to solve complex design challenges across a variety of project types.
  • You are highly proficient with relevant engineering tools. You are comfortable working independently in AutoCAD and Revit and are experienced in producing and reviewing design deliverables.
  • You’re a strong communicator and collaborator. You take ownership of your work, guide others, and contribute to a positive team environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • You’ll lead fire protection engineering design efforts. You’ll independently prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, and system layouts, including equipment schedules, pipe sizing, and pump sizing.
  • You’ll own project delivery. You’ll lead or support multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring technical accuracy, coordination, and adherence to schedule and budget.
  • You’ll review and mentor. You’ll review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide guidance to junior engineers to support their development.
  • You’ll engage in the field. You’ll perform site visits, system evaluations, and construction observations, and provide solutions to field-related challenges.
  • You’ll maintain and elevate quality. You’ll ensure proper documentation, QA/QC practices, and code compliance across all project deliverables.
  • You’ll build relationships. You’ll communicate directly with clients, represent the firm in meetings, and help foster long-term partnerships.
  • You’ll enjoy what you do. You’ll collaborate with a strong technical team, contribute meaningfully to projects, and continue to grow in your career.

SOME OF WHAT YOU’LL ENJOY

  • An excellent benefits package including 401K match and employee stock ownership, gym and transit subsidies, paid volunteer time off, parental leave, continuing education reimbursement and much more • Flexible work scheduling in a fast-growing company
  • A fun, inclusive, and collaborative environment
  • Colleagues that appreciate differences in people, perspectives, cultures, and ideas
  • The fruits of our employee-led committees focused on offering engaging social, wellness and community service activities all year long

Starting salary is between $90,000 – $110,000 based on skills and qualifications, with the high end of the range limited to applicants based on relevant years of experience.
