About the Role

The Senior Integration Specialist is the hands-on technical lead for integration services within IDS. Working under broad direction as part of the IDS integration capability hub, you will design, build, test, implement and support integration solutions in accordance with IDS integration architecture principles, guardrails and design standards.

This role is focused on technical delivery and operational reliability. Integration architecture strategy and roadmap ownership sit with our Integration and Solution Architects, and you will work closely with them to turn that direction into secure, dependable solutions that you are accountable for delivering and supporting.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Integration delivery and lifecycle: Design, build, test, deploy and maintain secure, scalable integrations on Boomi or equivalent, managing change, release, version control and upgrades across the full lifecycle.
  • Operational reliability: Own production integration services, monitoring performance, resolving incidents and root causes, and ensuring integrations meet agreed service levels.
  • Security, standards and assurance: Build security, privacy and audit requirements into every solution, and conduct design reviews that validate compliance with IDS integration principles, guardrails and standards.
  • Capability and continuous improvement: Maintain reusable patterns, API standards and technical documentation, and use service metrics to improve the reliability, supportability and cost-effectiveness of integration services.
  • Collaboration and technical leadership: Work with Integration and Solution Architects, product owners, project teams and vendors, providing design guidance and mentoring to promote consistent engineering practice.

By delivering dependable integrations that connect systems and data across Flinders, the role underpins digital transformation and helps ensure technology is implemented in an ethical, sustainable and agile way.

About You

You are a hands-on integration professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems and takes pride in building solutions that are secure, well documented and easy to support. In this role you will own technical outcomes, ensure production reliability, exercise sound technical judgement and provide technical leadership across the integration services you deliver.

Your analytical skills are matched by strong written communication, including the ability to produce quality design documents, interface specifications, work instructions and change requests. You build strong working relationships and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, using your influence and negotiation skills to guide stakeholders, project teams and vendors through the design, delivery and support of integration solutions.

You also possess:

  • Extensive hands-on experience delivering application and data integration solutions across the full lifecycle, from requirements and design through testing, deployment and transition to support.
  • Proven expertise developing, configuring and supporting an enterprise integration platform (such as Boomi or equivalent), with strong knowledge of API design, integration patterns, data mapping and error handling.
  • Demonstrated ownership of production integration services, ensuring they are reliable, scalable and maintainable through incident resolution, root cause analysis, performance optimisation and operational reporting.
  • A sound understanding of integration security, privacy, access control and audit requirements, and the ability to undertake technical design reviews that assess compliance with architecture principles, guardrails and standards, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Experience with integration testing, release management and change control, and with improving capability through reusable patterns, automation, documentation and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through design guidance, knowledge sharing and mentoring, and experience delivering in agile, scaled agile or matrix environments.

The ideal candidate will also hold an appropriate tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a relevant technical area, and / or equivalent relevant experience in an IT environment. Experience in the higher education sector will be highly regarded.
