WE ARE LANDSEC

We identify and shape places that create opportunity, enhance quality of life, and bring joy to the people connected to them.

This is how we’ve created the UK’s leading portfolio of urban places and one of the largest real estate companies in Europe.

Our £10 billion portfolio is built around premium workplaces, the country’s pre-eminent retail platform, and a residential pipeline that will redefine urban life.

We’ve honed this ability over 80 years. Spotting the opportunities, building the partnerships, and continually adapting to shape the places that meet the needs of a changing world.

Places where life happens. Where businesses grow. And where cities are defined.

LOCATION

The role is based in Victoria, London, with the majority of the working week spent in the office and the remainder working from home and / or another suitable Landsec location. Hybrid working arrangements may vary across teams depending on the nature of the role.

THE TEAM

The role will operate across both the Governance and Finance functions. There will be a direct reporting relationship with, and oversight from, the CFO and the Audit Committee (AC). This will include monthly 1:1 meetings with the CFO, regular reporting to the Risk and Control Forum, and unrestricted access to the Audit Committee Chair. The Senior Internal Audit Manager will also line manage the Audit Manager and oversee secondees from across the business on an ad hoc basis, supporting both audit delivery and development opportunities.

THE ROLE

  • Lead and manage Landsec's Internal Audit function, delivering independent, risk-based assurance across the Group and supporting the Audit Committee in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.
  • Develop and execute a risk-based annual Internal Audit Plan, providing insight-driven reviews that assess the effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls.
  • Build strong relationships across the business to drive control improvements and deliver practical, value-adding recommendations that support Landsec's strategic objectives.
  • This role has the unique advantage to position the function within the business as it transfers from an outsourced model.
  • Salary: Competitive

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop, maintain and deliver the annual risk-based Internal Audit Plan, ensuring appropriate coverage of key strategic, operational, financial and compliance risks across the Group.
  • Present Internal Audit reports, findings and thematic insights to senior management and the Audit Committee, providing clear and independent assurance over the effectiveness of the control environment.
  • Maintain the Internal Audit Charter, audit universe and audit methodology, ensuring compliance with applicable professional standards and best practice.
  • Monitor the timely implementation of audit actions and support the Head of Risk & Controls in assessing the effectiveness of the wider risk and control framework, including quarterly controls testing activities.
  • Manage internal audit resources and co-sourced specialists, and lead investigations, advisory reviews or assurance work relating to whistleblowing matters, incidents and emerging risks where required.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Significant Internal Audit experience, including the planning and delivery of risk-based audit programmes within a complex organisation, preferably within a listed company environment.
  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) and/or Internal Audit qualification (CMIIA, CIA or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance, risk management, internal control frameworks and Internal Audit professional standards.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, including executive leadership teams, Audit Committees and Board members, whilst maintaining appropriate independence and objectivity.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to translate complex findings into clear, practical and commercially focused recommendations.
