Senior Java Developer

What success looks like in this role:

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing applications. You will work across backend services, web APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure, and help integrate AI capabilities into our products. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

• •Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and PHP
• •Build and consume RESTful and SOAP web services, ensuring they are secure, versioned, and well documented
• •Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, indexing, query tuning, and stored procedures
• •Write complex, efficient SQL queries for transactional and reporting use cases
• •Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) using services such as compute, storage, queues, and managed databases
• •Integrate AI/ML capabilities into applications, such as LLM APIs, embeddings, semantic search, chatbots, or automation workflows
• •Participate in system design and architecture discussions, and drive technical best practices
• •Conduct code reviews and mentor junior and mid-level engineers
• •Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring
• •Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve system reliability
• •Collaborate with product managers, QA, DevOps, and designers in an Agile environment

You will be successful in this role if you have:

BA/BS degree and 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications:

• •7+ years of professional software development experience
• •Strong hands-on expertise in Java (Spring / Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA)
• •Solid experience with PHP (Laravel / Symfony or similar frameworks)
• •Proven experience designing and building web services (REST, SOAP, JSON/XML)
• •Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL, including performance optimization
• •Working experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• •Practical exposure to AI/ML or Generative AI integration (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face APIs, LangChain, vector databases)
• •Good understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, and OOP principles
• •Experience with Git, CI/CD tools, and containerization (Docker; Kubernetes is a plus)
• •Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• •Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)
• •Familiarity with caching (Redis, Memcached)
• •Knowledge of API security (OAuth2, JWT, OWASP practices)
• •Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• •Exposure to front-end technologies (JavaScript, React, or Angular)
• •Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or prompt engineering
• •Cloud or relevant professional certifications
