Description

Invariant is a top-ranked, woman-owned government relations and strategic communications firm advising Fortune 500 companies, start-ups, government entities, and nonprofits. We are growing and seeking a hands-on Senior Manager of Human Resources to help strengthen and execute our HR operations and people programs.

Reporting initially to the Chief People Officer and working closely with the Director of Human Resources, the Senior Manager will serve as a strong execution partner to HR leadership. This person will help translate priorities into organized plans and timely results while managing critical HR processes and projects.

This role requires someone who excels at managing multiple concurrent workstreams, establishing clear timelines, coordinating stakeholders, anticipating next steps, and ensuring details do not fall through the cracks. The successful candidate will bring structure, urgency, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through to a fast-moving HR function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day execution of key HR programs and processes, ensuring work is accurate, timely, and completed from start to finish.
  • Work closely with HR leadership to translate priorities and decisions into clear workplans, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate annual and ongoing HR processes, including performance reviews, promotions, compensation, employee engagement surveys, manager recognition programs, and employee departures.
  • Support recruiting across the firm, including coordinating searches, screening candidates, managing interview processes, and helping ensure a responsive and organized candidate experience.
  • Maintain visibility across multiple HR workstreams, monitor progress, identify obstacles, and ensure deadlines and commitments are met.
  • Coordinate with employees, managers, and firm leadership to gather information, resolve outstanding issues, and keep work moving.
  • Administer employee benefits and provide timely, responsive support to employees navigating benefits-related questions and issues.
  • Maintain HR policies, records, and practices and support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements.
  • Build and maintain HR dashboards, reports, and workforce analyses that provide leadership with clear and useful information.
  • Coordinate the administration and delivery of learning and development programs, including scheduling, communications, materials, participation tracking, and follow-up.
  • Administer employee pulse surveys, analyze results, and help coordinate resulting action plans.
  • Draft clear, polished employee communications, leadership presentations, and other HR materials.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements that make HR processes more efficient, consistent, and scalable.
  • Anticipate next steps, raise potential issues, and propose solutions before they become barriers.
  • Support onboarding and other employee lifecycle activities as needed.
  • Execute special projects and other assignments in partnership with HR leadership.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five to seven years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth, or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of concurrent projects, recurring processes, and unexpected priorities.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a strong record of creating structure, maintaining momentum, and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience supporting HRIS process improvements and system implementation; familiarity with Paylocity, Leapsome, HealthEquity and Employee Navigator preferred.
  • A hands-on, action-oriented working style and the ability to move work forward without sacrificing accuracy or judgment.
  • Ability to anticipate next steps, identify potential obstacles, and follow up consistently without requiring close supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to maintain visibility across a broad portfolio of HR work.
  • Ability to take direction, ask thoughtful questions, and turn decisions into clear action.

The target salary range for this role is $120,000 – $150,000 USD annually. This position may require evening and weekend work, sometimes without advance notice. The base salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and market data.

In addition, our total rewards package includes an annual discretionary bonus based on individual performance and that of the firm; commissions; robust medical, dental, and vision plans with employer HSA contributions; generous retirement matching; educational assistance; professional development assistance; unlimited time off; and other benefits.

Invariant is committed to creating a diverse culture and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
