Navan is seeking a talented Senior Manager, IT Audit to join our team in the San Francisco Bay Area. Reporting to the Director of Internal Controls, you’ll lead risk-based IT operational audits and the IT work-stream of our Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program. You’ll partner with business leaders, process owners, and external service providers to assess and strengthen controls, improve operational effectiveness, and manage risk.

You’ll own IT audit projects and the IT SOX program, while helping develop a methodology for auditing AI systems and using AI to improve audit efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in IT SOX compliance, control design, risk assessment, IT general and automated controls, segregation of duties, process mapping, testing, and deficiency evaluation and remediation. You’ll also bring strong project management and analytical skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to work credibly with leaders across the company. Experience in fintech, financial services, or travel is a plus. This role offers significant exposure to executive leadership.

What You’ll Do:

Responsible for strategic leadership, oversight, and day-to-day testing and management of the IT SOX compliance program.

Manage IT risk assessment and scoping, aligning coverage with financial reporting risks.

Review control documentation and work with control owners to strengthen process execution and audit readiness.

Coordinate ITGC, ITAC, segregation of duties, key report testing with Internal Audit, co-source partners, external auditors, and control owners; track and resolve related matters.

Support system implementations and technology changes by embedding SOX requirements.

Train and advise IT control owners on SOX requirements and documentation standards.

Drive program improvements through automation, metrics, tools, and process enhancements.

Lead assigned technology audits from planning through reporting, managing timelines and internal and external resources.

Deliver the audit plan in line with established methodology, quality standards, and performance targets; take on special projects as needed.

Serve as the technology SOX subject matter expert across systems, environments, and business units.

Build strong relationships with process owners, co-sourcing partners, auditors, and business leaders, anticipating their needs and coordinating timely remediation of control deficiencies.

Partner with internal audit leadership and business process managers to develop a methodology for auditing AI systems.

Identify and implement AI-enabled audit efficiencies while maintaining audit quality, independence, and reliable results.

What We’re Looking For:

8+ years of experience managing and testing SOX controls at a well-disciplined organization with a focus on systems across cloud, SaaS/PaaS, or on-premises environments, including reliance on SOC 1 / SOC 2 reports.

A BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Relevant technical or assurance qualifications—such as CISA, CIA, CPA, or an information systems or technology-related degree

Advanced understanding of internal or external SOX/audit methodologies and risk management within a complex technology, financial services, or regulated business.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to summarize complex issues succinctly for a wide range of internal and external executive audiences.

Strong project management, cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound business decisions on complex technology problems.

A proactive leadership style with a strong drive for results and unquestionable integrity and discretion in a fast-paced, evolving risk environment.

Experience auditing and/or using Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI systems and tools, including building or contributing to an AI audit or AI governance framework.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.

Fintech and/or travel industry experience

Big Four public accounting background

Experience with Artificial Intelligence, ERP implementations and data analytics
