Job Description
About the role
As our Senior Manager, User/Innovation Research, you'll play a senior strategic role at the heart of product and proposition innovation within the LEGO Group Creative Play Lab. You'll own the research and learning agenda across multidisciplinary innovation projects, ensuring audience insight is embedded into every stage of development. By combining rigor, curiosity and creativity, you'll help teams build experiences grounded in human insight and de-risked for market success while supporting and developing a team of researchers.
This is a Senior Manager level People Leader role. This role will be based in our Billund Project House. We offer a flexible hybrid working model known as Best of Both, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
Required Qualifications
- Delivered user, design or innovation research that informed product, service or proposition development whilst working in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Built mixed-methods research programmes across multiple markets to systematically stress-test and de-risk propositions.
- Led end-to-end qualitative research design, moderation and insight synthesis.
- Deep experience collaborating with design, marketing, engineering and strategy stakeholders, and using evidence-based recommendations to drive decision-making.
- Ability to situate user insights alongside commercial and operational/technological constraints, to highlight trade-offs and ensure propositions are feasible to deliver and attractive for the business.
- Developed and coached researchers within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Conducted research with children to inform product or experience development.
- Worked within the toys or entertainment industry.
- Applied digital research and synthesis platforms to generate actionable insights.
What you'll build
- A trusted research and learning agenda across innovation projects.
- High-quality research that informs future play experiences and propositions.
- Audience insight at the centre of innovation and proposition development.
- Evidence-based recommendations that guide decisions to proceed, iterate or discontinue concepts.
- Stronger innovation investment decisions through integrated qualitative, quantitative, experimentation and secondary research.
If you've worked in a role where you developed products, propositions or experiences within multidisciplinary teams, you'll feel at home here. What matters most is your ability to connect different sources of evidence, create compelling insight narratives and help teams make confident decisions.
Life on the team
The Creative Play Lab is the LEGO Group's innovation department, dedicated to inventing the future of LEGO play. The Experimental Research Team serves as the audience and research experts, pioneering new ways to understand children and future play needs. You'll join a collaborative environment where strategic thinking, strong stakeholder partnerships, coaching and mentoring are valued. Together, the team creates meaningful learning that helps shape future products, propositions and experiences.
What success looks like
You'll establish a trusted research agenda, embed audience understanding into innovation processes and help teams make stronger proposition decisions. Over the next 12 to 18 months, the team will focus on annual innovation missions delivered in 12-month cycles. You'll work closely with design, engineering, marketing, analytics, strategy, quantitative research and experimentation partners while leading and developing 3 to 4 researchers. Success means helping teams explore, assess and advance innovation opportunities through evidence-based decisions.
