Description

This position is remote and requires travel, but ideal candidate will need to be located in Chicagoland area.

The Senior Market Manager drives growth and long-term business performance across a group of Clearwave markets. This leader understands local market conditions, identifies the most important opportunities and performance gaps, and works across departments to turn priorities into results.

As part of a centrally led Market Management function, the Market Manager covers both new service areas and established markets. The role combines data analysis, regular field engagement, business judgment, and persistent follow-through to improve subscriber growth, retention, revenue per customer, and order fulfillment.

The Market Manager owns the market assessment, coordinated improvement plan, action tracking, and escalation of unresolved issues. Functional leaders retain responsibility for their teams, resources, and execution. Success requires building credibility and securing action from colleagues across functions and levels of seniority.

Key Responsibilities

Market performance and planning. Assess penetration and growth pace against targets, churn against plan, average revenue per user (ARPU), and order fulfillment. Develop a clear view of market performance and prioritize the opportunities with the greatest business impact.

Diagnosis and problem solving. Use performance data, field observations, and input from local and functional teams to identify underlying causes of performance gaps. Quantify the opportunity or risk and recommend practical actions.

Subscriber growth. Work with Sales and Marketing to identify barriers to customer acquisition and opportunities to improve penetration and net subscriber additions. Consider market maturity, customer demand, competition, and sales channel effectiveness.

Customer retention. Identify local competitive threats and service issues that contribute to customer losses. Work with Customer Experience, Retention, and operational teams to develop and track targeted responses.

Order fulfillment. Identify barriers that prevent orders from becoming installed customers. Coordinate with Sales, Installation and Repair, Construction, and other teams to address scheduling, readiness, capacity, and conversion issues.

Cross-functional action plans. Bring functional leaders together around agreed priorities. Establish action owners, commitments, timelines, and expected outcomes; track progress and escalate unresolved barriers or resource conflicts through Market Management leadership.

Growth opportunities. Identify and assess nearby network expansion opportunities, local partnerships, and additional sales channels. Sponsor promising opportunities through the appropriate financial, construction, and commercial approval processes.

Market presence and intelligence. Visit assigned markets, spend time with frontline teams, and build relationships with community partners and municipal leaders. Understand customer needs, competitor activity, local service conditions, and Clearwave’s presence in the community.

Communication and follow-through. Provide clear market updates covering performance, causes, priorities, actions, and expected results. Verify that actions improve business outcomes and share successful approaches across markets.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Demonstrated ability to assess business performance, lead initiatives across departments, and deliver measurable improvements. Candidates may come from sales leadership, account management, market management, consulting, or a related field.

Experience leading work across departments and influencing decisions without direct reporting authority.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret performance data, identify root causes, and turn findings into business decisions.

Sound commercial judgment and an understanding of how sales, customer service, and operations affect growth and customer retention.

A record of taking initiative, navigating ambiguity, and driving projects or action plans through to completion.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge assumptions and engage executives, frontline employees, and external stakeholders.

Ability to balance broader market priorities with hands-on investigation and execution; receptive to feedback and able to learn unfamiliar markets and operating practices quickly.

Telecommunications experience is preferred.
